Oleksandr Chukhno, a student of the Faculty of Biotechnology and Biotechnology in 2009-2013, who studied at the Department of Industrial Biotechnology, died. Oleksandr had an active civic position and was the chairman of the FBT student council in 2011-2012.
In 2014, he was drafted into the National Guard of Ukraine. He defended Ukraine's independence during the ATO and performed combat missions as part of the Fourth Operational Brigade of the Rubizh National Guard until the full-scale invasion.
From the first days of the war until the day of his death, Oleksandr was at the frontline. He had the rank of senior lieutenant and was known in military circles by his call sign ‘Tourist’.
Oleksandr was a true commander, a brave comrade-in-arms, a compassionate person and a loyal friend. His life credo was: ‘I will lead the guys only where I will go myself’. And to his last breath, he was true to his words.
The commander of an infantry company, Oleksandr Chukhno, died a hero's death while covering his unit. Our Defender showed an example of a true patriot, an example of bravery and courage, he fulfilled his duty as a soldier and a citizen honestly and to the end, giving his life for a free future in independent Ukraine.
