A hundred years ago, in 1922, Polish students of the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute created the Circle of Alumni of Kyiv Polytechnic Institute in Warsaw, Poland, which later turned into a Section that exists to this day. From the very beginning of its establishment, it has been developing friendly relations with the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, taking care of issues of cooperation between Polish and Ukrainian scientific and technical communities, higher education institutions, enterprises and cities. The work of the Section in promoting a positive image of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute in Polish society is of great importance. All these contribute to the strengthening of ties between the two countries and serve to bring the peoples of Ukraine and Poland closer together.
The solemn celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Section of Alumni at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute took place at the meeting of the Academic Council of the university on October 3, 2022. The head of the Section of Alumni of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute in Poland, Doctor Honoris Causa of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute Janusz Fuksa; the member of the board of the Section, editor-in-chief of the Kyiv Polish-language newspaper "Krynica" Dorota Yavorska; the editor-in-chief of the Kyiv Polish-language newspaper "Dziennik Kijowski" Stanislaw Panteluk, and others participated on behalf of Poland. Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute was represented by the rector of the university, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Michael Zgurovsky; members of the Academic Council; employees of the university International Collaboration Department, the Ukrainian-Polish Centre, and others.
The co-moderator of the consideration of the issue of celebrating the 100th anniversary of Section of Alumni of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute in Poland, vice-rector Sergii Sydorenko, noted in his opening speech, in particular: "The Section served and continues serving a noble purpose: getting the peoples of Ukraine and Poland come closer together through cooperation with the alma mater. The work of the Section contributes to the creation and promotion of a positive image of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute in Polish civil society, as well as on an international scale". Janusz Fuksa, the eternal head of the Section for 47 years, addressed the audience online. He reminded that "the students of Kyiv Polytechnic Institute in Poland have been working to strengthen contacts with their alma mater for 100 years, our delegations have been visiting the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute for 60 years, they have met annually at the May Seminar in Poland to discuss Polish-Ukrainian cooperation for 45 years. And now all the students help refugees, disabled and wounded in the bloody war. Our connection and support will always be there."
After that, Dorota Yavorska started the award ceremony. For outstanding achievements in the field of science and education of Ukraine and active cooperation with Polish universities, the Golden Badges of Honour of the Polish Federation of Engineering Associations were awarded to the Vice-rector of educational work Nataliia Seminskaya and the Head of the Science and Research Department Yuriy Sydorenko. Rector of the university Michael Zgurovsky was presented with the Commemorative Medal for the Centennial of the Section of Alumni at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute in Poland.
According to the decision of the Academic Council of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, for his significant contribution to the development of educational, scientific and cultural cooperation with partners in the Republic of Poland, the Section of Alumni of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute in Poland was awarded the Honourable Decoration of the Academic Council of the University.

Kyiv Polytechnicians congratulated the Section of Alumni of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute in Poland on the occasion of the centenary of its activity.
Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the Section of Alumni in Poland has been actively supporting the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, transferring funds to the special university fund, and helping to build cooperation relationships with Polish universities.
