On September 14-15, the traditional scientific and practical conference " The Science for Defence: Safety of Critical Infrastructure" was held at the Poznan University of Technology.
Michael Zgurovsky, the rector of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, took part in it. The topic of this conference was especially relevant for Ukraine, because our infrastructure has been destroyed since the first day of the war.
Michael Zgurovsky delivered a speech "Ensuring energy independence as a new global challenge for European security." He analyzed the situation on the energy markets of Europe and Ukraine, which developed as a result of the russo-Ukrainian war in detail. Michael Zgurovsky introduced the results of research for 142 countries of the world in the time period 2000-2021, which were obtained by the scientists of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.
The scientists of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute have developed the Energy Freedom Index to evaluate and compare the energy systems of different countries of the world. Their study shows that countries with a higher energy freedom index have a weak or negative correlation with russian imports. The Rector of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute expressed his belief that a united Europe would be able to face new energy challenges.
