During the meeting of representatives of the university management with students, teachers and employees of the Educational and Research Institute of Telecommunication Systems, which took place on May 19, several topics were raised. But the issues of volunteering, scientific and design activities of students of the institute, as well as the effectiveness of the model of interaction of students with the teaching and research staff came out on top. In fact, the meeting itself was held on the proposal of the ITS Student Council, and its purpose was to discuss a number of its initiatives and undertakings.
The visit of the Rector of the University, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Michael Zgurovsky, Vice-Rector for Educational Work Nataliia Seminskaya, Vice-Rector for Administrative Work Vadim Kondratyuk and Director of Engineering Services of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute Petro Kovalyov began with getting acquainted with the construction of the building №6 / 30, which will also house ITS units. "This is a good addition to the institute. It has long been such a pressing problem… In fact, the institute is becoming self-sufficient in terms of location. This is very important, teachers will not have to go far, everything will be in place," - Michael Zgurovsky said during the revision. Then in the hall of the Academic Council of ITS there was a thorough and interesting conversation about research and projects that scientists and students of the institute are working on, their activities in wartime, the experience of training high-quality specialists in the field of telecommunications and more. General information about the work and achievements of the institute in this regard was provided by the director of the ITS Academician of the NAS of Ukraine Michael Ilchenko in the presentation "Experience and Principles of Creative Activity of Youth in the Scientific School of ITS". Acting Chairman of ITS Student Council Kostianyin Lisovsky in his report "85 Days of Heroic Resistance of Ukraine to russian Aggression through the Eyes of Students of ITS" talked about the areas of volunteering, research projects and developments of the student design bureau, which is cared for by the Student Council of the institute and in which the most active participants are students of its various courses. However, even the list of fields of their concern took up almost two dozen slides of the presentation, so, it would be necessary to use the entire newspaper space to tell in detail about everything. It should be noted that it was the students of ITS who provided the cabling and configuration of Internet communication in the bomb shelters of the campus in a very short time. They also collected more than 225,000 hryvnias (as of May 9) for financial support for the Armed Forces.
Scientific and design work should be mentioned separately, because it is an integral part of education, or rather, the educational activities of students of ITS. It is also a significant part of the work of the Student Council of the Institute of Telecommunications; - it has even been created a relevant department for that. Vice-rector Nataliia Seminskaya even remarked: "One of the important components of your Student Council is the presence of a scientific department. Yes, there are many media, creative, household departments in various organizations, but almost nowhere is there a scientific component. And the fact that your Student Council is developing science is very important, and you can set an example in this. I would greatly prefer to emphasize this in our work, it is an integral part of the development of the university. "
The participants of the meeting were informed in detail about the scientific work of the students by Kostiantyn Lisovsky and graduate student Kostiantyn Shevtsov.
In addition, the participants did not forget about the activities of the student design bureau. After all, it involves not only students, but also graduate students and experienced teachers who act as mentors in the work, as well as some entrants who have already decided on the choice of place for further study. One of the priority areas for the student design bureau today is the equipment of all premises where students and employees of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute can stay with means of Internet communication by September 1. Of course, as Vice-Rector Vadim Kondratyuk assured, employees of the relevant technical services of the university will support them in this work.
The report on the system of informing students about news in the field of infocommunications in Ukraine and abroad, made by Iryna Kononova, Deputy Director of the Institute for Educational Work, was also extremely interesting.
Michael Zgurovsky summed up the meeting. In his concluding remarks, he noted the peculiarities of the system of cooperation between students, teachers, researchers and various departments of the university is a certain "ITS model". "I would like this model to be scaled up for the whole university. Of course, the design bureau created by you performs not only student tasks, but also world-class projects, according to the relevance and professionalism of their implementation. You can look at the most famous universities in the world, where students work in similar groups with their teachers and mentors, - said the rector. - Although we are inferior in terms of equipment capabilities, in terms of infrastructure potential, but in terms of the things you do, this is the same level. Therefore, it is necessary to fully support such a model of interaction between scientists, teachers and students who seek to take the opportunity to adopt this experience and these opportunities. In such groups, everyone has a mission. It is the combination of two competencies - the fundamental knowledge of elderly and eminent scholars and the latest instrumental and technological skills of young people - that gives the best results. "
