On September 10, 2018, a regular meeting of the Academic Council of the University took place.
It began with the congratulations of the anniversarees: the head of the department of technology of mechanical engineering, doctor of technical sciences, professor Yurii Petrakov, acting director of the Head of the Department of Philosophy, Ph.D., Professor Boris Volodymyrovych Novikov, Head of the Department of Radioengineering Devices and Systems Dr.Sci., Professor Serhiy Yakovlevich Zhuk, Head of the Department of Designing of Electronic Computing Equipment, Dr.Sci., Professor Oleksandr Mykolayovych Lysenko and the head of the department of surface engineering, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Igor Smirnov.
The first point of agenda was the creation of the Institute for Defense Technology. The first pro-rector, the academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Yu.I.Yakimenko reported. He informed that the main directions of the Institute's activities will be educational, which will include retraining and advanced training, master's training, specialized language training and protection of intellectual property; as well as scientific and innovative, which will include research and development and technology transfer. After considering the issue, it was decided to create Institute of Defense Technologies at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and the Supervisory Board for the Institute.
After that, the issue of introducing the dual education program was considered; reported by Yu.I.Yakimenko. Yuriy Ivanovich presented the scheme of training specialists for the dual form and its program at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. It was noted that the dual target training was integrated with the innovative platform “Sikorsky Challenge”. It will be held in master's programs in the following specialties: Information Technologies, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation and Instrumentation, Electronics and Telecommunications. In addition, the target training structure for the Progrestech group of companies was presented and the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute's structural units were identified, which will take part in this work.
The next question was presented on the results of admission of students to the University in 2018. The first vice-rector Yuriy Yakymenko also reported. He reported on the volume of government demand in the last 6 years, presented the number of enrolled students in the 1st and 5th full-time and part-time courses, and also showed the distribution of enrolled graduates of pre-university training groups at faculties and institutes in 2018. Also announced was the launch of a series of adaptation courses in mathematics and physics for freshmen. In addition, Yuriy Ivanovich noted changes in the system of masters training: training for a master's degree program will be conducted under the supervision of a research supervisor according to the student's individual plan and will be based on active independent work.
Next, the issue of creating an educational and practical department of information support “Media Center of the KPI” was considered. Reported by pro-rector P.O.Kyrychok. Petro Oleksiyovych emphasized the urgency of creating a university subdivision, which will ensure objective and unbiased public information about the activities of the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”, will promote the coverage of important events in mass media and will inform the team on the progress life at university.
Finally, the competition issues and current affairs were considered, in particular, the issue of approving scientific reports of the scholarship holders of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine for young scientists and a recommendation for the printing of periodical scientific publications of the University.
