Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and the Academy of Sciences of Shandong Province (People's Republic of China) signed an agreement on cooperation in the preparation of PhD students / post-graduate students on May 25.The documents were sealed with the signatures of Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Mykhailo Ilchenko (on behalf of Igor Sikorsky KPI) and the Vice-President for Scientific Research in the Academy of Sciences of Shandong Province Liu Mende.
The delegation of the Academy of Sciences of Shandong Province that visited KPI also included the Head of the Department of International Cooperation of the Academy Jan Heytun, Director of the Institute for Science and Technology Development Strategy Yan Zityan and Deputy Head of International Cooperation Department Li Jingping. So the signing ceremony was preceded by an acquaintance of the Chinese scientific delegation with the University and the State Polytechnic Museum and meeting with the leadership of the university. Participation in the meeting, in addition to vice-rector Mykhailo Ilchenko, was taken by deputy pro-rector for scientific work Igor Lytvynov, Director of the Center for International Education Volodymyr Koval, Head of the Department of Theoretical and Industrial Heat Engineering of the Heat and Power Faculty Gennady Varlamov, Acting Head of the Department of Automation of Power Objects and Systems Designing Oleksandr Koval and others.
The guests were provided with the information on cooperation between the research organizations of the Shandong Academy and Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and the joint projects that they have already implemented and are implementing within it. This cooperation began in 2013 and has been actively developing since then. As Mykhailo Ilchenko noted during the meeting, now it is developing to a new stage, because earlier it was a joint scientific work of Chinese and Ukrainian researchers, and from this day on, it also begins joint educational activities. So far, this only applies to graduate students' training, but the participants of the conversation also discussed the introduction of the double diploma program of Igor Sikorsky KPI and the universities of Shandong Province.
As for the agreement signed on May 25, it suggests that admission to the postgraduate study will be carried out in accordance with the rules of the KPI, and the term of training will correspond to the current Ukrainian legislation (4 years). The possibility of correspondence training is also provided. The research and developments that PhD post-graduate students will undertake during their studies will be based on topics and scientific areas that will be agreed upon by both parties of the agreement. In order perform joint scientific works, Igor Sikorsky KPI will have the opportunity to transfer PhD postgraduates to Shandong Academy of Sciences, where they will receive a scholarship to provide accommodation and support for their scholarly activities. Obtained by postgraduate students, their research executives and other researchers working on a common theme for both sides, the results of the research will be owned by participants from both countries.
The right of each participant's intellectual property will be divided according to his or her intellectual contribution to the results of work on a case-by-case basis, and its distribution will be in proportion to these contributions. In addition, the results of collaborative research will be published in co-authorship with other research participants and their leaders in scientific publications, adhering to international standards of scientific publication. The agreement provides also other conditions for the preparation of PhD students / postgraduates. It will be valid for 5 years and may be automatically prolonged if one of its members does not announce about the exit 6 months before the expiration of this term.
