We invite you to view interesting informational posters in a joint project with the Kyiv Metro "Metro. City. Polytechnic“ on important engineering solutions in the Kyiv Metro, which were implemented with the participation of specialists from KPI (in particular, regarding the construction of the ”Polytechnic Institute" station).
Until August 31, 2025, posters about the contribution of KPI graduates and scientists to the development of the city, transport infrastructure, and especially the metro can be seen at the Polytechnic Institute station. The project reminds us that the name of the station is not just a landmark on the map, but part of the shared history of the university and the city.

According to the Kyiv Metro public utility company, almost 300 KPI graduates currently work in the Kyiv metro. These are specialists in various fields who ensure the daily operation of the metro: they transport passengers, maintain technical systems, and ensure the safety and stability of the metro.
Metro specialists hope that this project will remind passengers of the importance of the daily work of specialists and inspire young people to choose technical professions so that they can join the team in the future.
Fifteen posters describe important engineering solutions that were implemented with the participation of Kyiv Polytechnic Institute specialists. For example, these include the operation of communication systems in tunnels and passenger automation. In addition, some of the KPI graduates were directly involved in the construction of the Polytechnic Institute metro station.
Today, the Polytechnic Institute metro station tells the story of Kyiv through KPI. The Kyiv Metro and the Polytechnic have a lot in common: at one time, the station was actually built so that 20,000 students and teachers could come to study. KPI graduates work in the subway, and students undergo practical training. At the same time, this project is not only about the connection between the subway and the university. It is also about promoting engineering professions and the fact that engineers are needed everywhere, including in the metro," said Anatoliy Melnychenko, rector of Igor Sikorsky KPI.

Kyiv Metro reminds us that the Polytechnic Institute station was opened on November 5, 1963. It was named after the nearby university, emphasizing the importance of KPI for the capital. Kyiv Polytechnic Institute has produced specialists who built bridges, designed the metro, developed energy, aviation, IT, and the defense industry — everything that has made Kyiv a modern metropolis.
