Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and state-owned enterprise "Ukroboronprom": cooperation for strengthening Ukraine's defensive potential

An agreement on cooperation between the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and state-owned enterprise "Ukroboronprom" was signed on December 22, 2017 in the university.

The document was signed by the rector of the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”, Academician of NAS of Ukraine Mykhailo Zgurovsky and CEO of the state-owned concern "Ukroboronprom" Roman Romanov.

“Today we start a project, which has been prepared for a long period of time together with the state-owned concern "Ukroboronprom", the Ministry of Science and Education of Ukraine, the Committee of Science and Education of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine,” - said at the beginning of the ceremony Mykhailo Zgurovsky. – “It will provide the training of management specialists for the military and defense complex of the country.”

Thus, it means that first of all the agreement envisages the organization of wide-ranging cooperation in the training of highly skilled professionals for the enterprises of the state-owned enterprise "Ukroboronprom", in particular, the opening of new master degree program "Management in the defense and industrial complex" in the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. In addition, under the terms of agreement it is planned to organize the joint participation of the employees of the Concern and University in the implementation of innovative projects for the defense industry in the field of high technologies, the introduction of new high-efficient forms of production organization and the implementation of knowledge-intensive competitive production within domestic and foreign markets.

Moreover, among the new areas of cooperation, there are noted not only a joint training of specialists in the field of the management of defense industry objects improvement quality analysis and joint research and innovation work, but also an organization of practices for KPI students in accordance with the agreed specialties, as well as providing students with comfortable conditions for course and diploma projects completion on the enterprises of the concern, etc. University's specialists will also provide scientific and technical support to the projects, implemented on the basis of the concern's enterprises and will provide the employees of the state-owned concern “Ukroboronprom” with advisory services on certain technical subjects, assistance in solving scientific problems, organizing and managing production process.

It should be noted that new agreement expands the scope of cooperation, which began in 2014, and has already proven its effectiveness. As Roman Romanov informed during the conversation with journalists after the ceremony, new materials, which were designed by National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” representatives and provide an increased resistanсy of body armor plates, special paints and oils for military equipment, serially manufactured drone "Spectator", etc, are being used at the enterprises of the concern.

As for the master degree program, the second higher education program for the heads of enterprises and structural subdivisions of the state-owned concern "Ukroboronprom", as well as other enterprises of all forms of ownership, which operate with aim to strengthen the defense of Ukraine and which are inalienable components of Ukraine’s defense-industrial complex, will be realized within its framework. Faculty of Management and Marketing, Faculty of Sociology and Law and Faculty of Linguistics of the University, as well as the Educational and Methodological Complex "Institute of Postgraduate Education", which operates in the structure of National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”, and subdivisions of the state-owned concern "Ukroboronprom" are to take part in the teaching and methodological as well as organizational support of the master degree program. The term of masters training in this specialty will constitute 1 year 4 months and the first graduation of its students is planned to be in 2019.
