Faculty of Electric Power Engineering and Automation (EPEA) Igor Sikorsky KPI has been cooperating with the Technical University of Applied Sciences (Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen - THM) in Germany for several years. Within the framework of the project "Partnerships with Developing Countries in 2017", which is financed by the world organization DAAD and will last 4 years, a working group of specialists from the Department of Power System Automation and the Department of Automation of Electromechanical Systems and Electrical Drives of the EPEA visited Germany in October.
At the meeting of the working group of specialists of the EPEA with the representatives of the THM, the tasks of cooperation were discussed, the main one of which is the creation of an international office in our university for joint research, projects and masters training by the double diploma program. At the meeting was also discussed a number of important issues, on which special attention was paid to the masters training program, which will begin in the autumn of 2018. The curricula were agreed upon, the research directions were discussed and the length of stay of students at the University of Applied Sciences in Germany was determined.
Already this autumn, four EPEA students went to THM in Germany for five months to study and participate in the development of an electric car for the international student competition Carolo-Cup 2018, and also in projects on the development of means of monitoring of transient processes in the electric power system and studies of modes of electrical networks at integration electric vehicles.
In Germany, the teachers of these departments got acquainted with the laboratories of the THM and took part in the annual seminar-workshop devoted to the discussion of the latest developments and studies in the field of power engineering, electromechanics and electric drives. It was also attended by scientists from the University of Applied Sciences and professors from other German universities. Senior Lecturer of the Department of Power System Automation Ph.D. in Engineering Artem Nesterko and Associate Professor of the Department of Automation of Electromechanical Systems and Electrical Drives Ph.D. in Engineering Sergiy Kovbasa made presentations in which they talked about relevant research carried out at the departments of the faculty.
The meeting of the specialists of the EPEA with the representatives of the THM in Germany left pleasant impressions, brought useful experience and provided opportunities for solving a number of issues on creating conditions for carrying out relevant research, including involving the students of the faculty.
