Anti-terrorist operation keeps on in the eastern Ukraine. The participants of ATO receive voluntary support from different parts of the country. Volunteers from among Kyiv polytechnics continue to help our soldiers, who are situated directly in the scene of fighting, and members of ATO who returned to teaching at the university and need care and attention.
The deputy head of staff on organizational matters, chief engineer of Educational-scientific complex "IPSA" Elena Belyaeva says:
- After the finishing the admission process of 2016 the voluntary community of the university organized voluntary assistance to participants ATO, which entered our university. We accord a thank to the lecturers of the faculty of Ukrainian language, literature and culture FL, ESC "IASA", RTF and KPI museum historians who helped our demobilized students to pass their first session successfully.
We also organized the transfer of optical night vision device and 50 ordered parts for military equipment to the military unit which is stationed in the industrial zone of Avdeevka. We also have woven two camouflage nets and handed them over to the theatre of operations.
We agreed with Irpen forestry about donation of wood to the House of the Veterans of ATO in Irpen, where due to the freezing weather cold spell is expected. In addition, with help of FEL employee Vitaly Golub gas chainsaw was repaired for the purposes of the same House.
For the KPI disabled student, who has lived in the temporarily occupied territory and whose injured right hand complicates his life, we bought multi-cooker, multi slicer, found refrigerator and toaster via internet advertisement in order to ease his life. In order to enable distance learning, we bought him a computer webcam and headset to communicate via Skype.
And we organized free English courses for our students - children of killed ATO members, and students – who are participants of ATO. In passing, it is worth noting that although there were only seven wanting to participate, all pay-for courses that work on the territory of the university campus refused to admit them in free cost. Unfortunately, after month of work, according to the fact that every trainee had a different level of English language skills, courses had to be transferred into the mode of consultations. However, this question is not removed from the volunteer organization agenda.
