On Dignity and Freedom Day, students and fellow workers of National technical university “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv polytechnic institute” commemorated heroes of Maidan and ATO.
After classes finished, they put flowers to the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred monument at St. Nicolas the Wonderworker Church and commemorated persons deceased on Maidan and in military actions in the East of Ukraine. Seven Kyiv polytechnics are among thousands of heroes that put lives for their Motherland. These are Heroes of Ukraine: extramural student of the Faculty of Sociology and Law, Yurii Popravka, and extramural student of the Faculty of Informatics and Computer Science, Sergii Bondariev, postgraduate and research associate of the Faculty of Electronics, Andrii Yeremenko, student of Institute of Mechanical Engineering, Yurii Artiukh, student of Faculty of Welding, Vadym Zherebylo, graduate of Institute of Mechanical Englineering, Volodymyr Kochetkov-Sukach and student of Faculty of Sociology and Law, Vladyslav Diusov.
First pro-rector of the university, academician of Ukrainian NAS, Yurii Yakymenko, active member of events on Maidan and ATO veteran, former minister of Youth and Sport of Ukraine, Dmytro Bulatov and the head of Civil Defense Department of the university, Yurii Nesterenko appeared at the solemn ceremony.
Ceremonies of laying flowers in front of memorial boards to deceased polytechnics were held in the university faculty buildings where they studied.
