On April, 19th the head of Security Service of Ukraine, Vasyl Hrytsak, talked with NTUU ‘KPI’ students, presented photo exhibition and signed the memorandum about the scientific and technical collaboration between the Service and NTUU ‘KPI’.
The visit started from laying flowers to the Heavenly Hundred Heroes memorial to commemorate the students and university employees who gave their lives for the freedom of Ukraine in present times. Mykhailo Zhurovskyi, the rector of NTUU ‘KPI’, academician of the National Academy of Science in Ukraine, representatives of SS of Ukraine and university authorities took part in the ceremony.
After short overview with the past and present history of KPI and on observing the exposition of the State Polytechnic Museum, Vasyl Hrytsak gave a lecture ‘The history of opposition for Donbas and Crimea Peninsula’ to the KPI students and opened an exhibition ‘The war history for Ukrainian freedom. Donbas’ located in the museum hall. The time for opening the exhibition was chosen on purpose: these very days two years ago the military actions started in the eastern part of Ukraine. So the lecture was devoted to the conditions and details of those events, as well as to the eastern regions problems that our country is to overcome. Besides, he spoke about the counter sabotage and counter intelligence activity that the Security Service of Ukraine leads, about the taking back Ukrainian militants and volunteers who are being kept illegally in so-called DNR and LNR and Russia. The special attention was paid to the information security, which is essential in hybrid war conditions, the war that the Russian Federation started and continued against Ukraine.
Finally, Vasyl Hrytsak and his colleagues briefly discussed collaboration questions with Mykhailo Zhurovskyi and university scientists. Naturally, the major spheres were named: information security, cyber security which is a specialization of several university faculties. Thus, Prof. Oleksii Novikov, scientific advisor of the Institute of Physics and Technology, told the meeting participants about KPI developments in this sector. The discussion resulted in signing the Memorandum on scientific and technical collaboration. It was signed by Vasyl Hrytsak for SS of Ukraine side and by Mykhailo Zhurovskyi from NTUU ‘KPI’ side.
