International Conference on the History of Science, Technology and Education

April 14, 2016 at NTUU "KPI" was held XIV International Youth Scientific Conference "The history of science, technology and education."

Opening ceremony was held in the conference hall of the Scientific and Technical Library of NTUU "KPI" by H. I. Denysenka. Participants were welcomed by the dean of the faculty of physics and mathematics prof. Vladimir Vanin, director of NTUU "KPI" Oksana Bruy, a leading researcher at the Institute for Scientific and Technological Potential and Science History Studies by H. M. Dobrov doctor of history Alla Lytvynko.

Participants heard a number of reports.

Director of the State Polytechnic Museum at NTUU "KPI" Natalia Pisarevskaya in his report "Back to the Future. Special Museum " described the museum of science and technology.

Chief Technologist of Company "Prolog Semikor" Alexander Alekseenko reported on the development of modern high-tech production of silicon ingots, wafers, solar panels and monocrystalline sapphire substrates for LED industry.

Professor University of California (USA) Peter Serdyukov, who for many years taught distance learning courses, shared his views on state and prospects of distance education, and seems convinced the audience that despite the shortcomings and problems, distance education has great potential, especially for training and getting a second education.

Vice-President of Ukrainian Physical Society, a leading researcher of the Institute of Physics, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Ph.D., Professor Basil Shenderovskyy in his report "Tragic tablets in Ukrainian science" described the fate of the repressed Ukrainian scientists.

At the end of the plenary session assistant professor of general and theoretical physics FMF NTUU "KPI", Ph.D. Lily Ponomarenko had a very interesting report on the life, scientific and organizational activities of the first professor of physics Kiev Polytechnic Institute H. H. De-Metza, 155 years since the birth marks which in May this year.
