Competition of innovative ideas within the framework of «UKRAINE» project: the winners are decided

The final part of innovative ideas competition within the framework of «UKRAINE» project being financially supported by Framework program of European Union for research and innovations “Horizon 2020” was held in September, 17.

«UKRAINE» project is sponsored by European agency for global satellite navigation systems within the framework of EU program for science and innovations “Horizon 2020”. It has become possible due to signing the agreement between Ukraine and EU in the field of global navigation and satellite systems (GNSS) that became active in the end of 2013. The agreement is aimed at satellite communication services with better signal fidelity due to EGNOS (European Geostationary Navigation Overlay System) implemented within the territory of Ukraine. This enables to increase safety level as well as effectiveness of aviation, land transportations and other branches of national economy. The project started in January, 2015. It goes without saying that the competition of innovative ideas within its frameworks referred to the issues associated with space position control systems as well as issues regarding the development of new means for their handling. Prorector of NTUU “KPI” for scientific work, academician of NAS of Ukraine Mychailo Ilchenko spoke about the main tasks of this project, its participants, namely students, postgraduates, scientists, staff members of not only KPI, but other higher education establishments, scientific and research institutions, big and mid-sized businesses worldwide Ukraine.

Three projects entered final straight, whose actors hold pitch-sessions, that is short presentations of personal developments for members of international jury and participants of final part of the competition. After each session, the speakers answered questions placed not only by international jury members present in the room but also those being abroad, since the final part of competition was hold via skype, thus they were able to see and hear everything happening in real time mode.

The project authors’ names were kept in suspense during the whole awarding ceremony. The culmination point of the ceremony was speech of the head of competition international jury, Sergii Bunin.  

Thus, the winner certificate was granted to “Small-sized and energy-efficient signals receiver of GPS/GLONASS radio navigation for dispatching systems of transport vehicles” project, presented by Bogdan Dovgan, the student of Institute of telecommunications systems of NTUU “KPI”. He has also received iPad Air Gold as well as a right to take part in scientific conference on particular subject that will be held next year in the Netherlands.

The «Fuel Trans» project – platform for realization of automobile vehicles (of large size) fuel by means of tracing residual fuel on the basis of GPS, GPRS systems within the framework of European Geostationary Navigation Overlay System, EGNOS, presented by both it authors – Dmytro Abramov and Bogdan Trynadtsiatko (Scientific park “Kyiv polytechnics”, students of NTUU “KPI”) has became the runner-up. This team has been awarded with iPad Air Silver.

The third place was given to Mariia Nekrasova, associate professor of chair of systems and control processes of NTUU “”KHPI” for the project “”Technologies development of international satellite navigation system”. She was also awarded with iPad Air Silver.

Finally, it worthy to note, that all three winning projects enter the final part of the Competition of innovative project «Sikorsky Challenge 2015». It is hold within the framework of the festival with the same name and it is the fourth time to be held in NTUU “KPI” in October this year.
