Student Life is special time for every young person who has decided to get professional education. For some, this is a welcome change for, for others, this is a fear of the new and unknown, and for each freshman is very important to have a friend, a guide who would help to sort out the hectic and frantic atmosphere in KPI life. Activists decided to help "freshmen" to adapt to the new environment as soon as possible and join the family of Kyiv Polytechnic University.
Students of 3-4 courses of IASA, ITS, FEL and TEF took over young students. The work of supervisory is primarily a voluntary initiative of students, who remembering their first steps in the big new world, are willing to help freshmen to adapt to new compared to the school learning environment, evaluation system, characteristics of lessons and find answers to many issues that they arise in everyday university life. The main duties of student board include the advising freshmen on the content objects of their specific teaching features of the educational process and communication with teachers, engaging students in active participation in the cultural work of the faculty and the university and assist in the organization of activities which involve students of the faculty (Institute).
The deputy director of IASA educational work A. Yakovlyeva said that system of student coaching institute operates more than four years. Student board and Administration of Institute appoint for each of the first year students, two curators from among successful students who help them to comfortably join the student environment and solve domestic and organizational issues. "We even held a kind of competition, - adds chairman of student council IASA Maxim Dreval. – It was named the best supervisors in a survey of students last year: Julia Mykh (KA-16) and Valeriy Dashuk (KA-92), who led the group KA-23. By the way, al details about IASA student council are presented on the site.
"Student-supervisor is a counselor for whom the monitor of academic groups or students themselves primarily addresses to solve various issues, from the location of the buildings and classrooms and to Bologna system in the educational process; domestic issues are also not overlooked - said Methodist of ITS K. Bohdan. - Administration Institute, dean and the Student Board support the work of students, supervisors, because the experience with communication between the students of junior and senior courses is beneficial, it creates a friendly atmosphere, creates a personality. There are no cases in which junior students are left without support because supervisors are appointed not by force, but on their own initiative. On ITS there are usually more supervisors than the groups of the first year, so there is the practice of appointing two curators. A year passes quickly, but the support that students felt in the early days of studying, encourage them to offer their assistance to the following freshmen. "
"The Institute of student curators appeared three years ago at the Faculty of Electronics - says Deputy Dean of the FEL educational work T. Hyzhnyak. - They are chosen from among seniors who are successful in study and have a proactive life. These are people who are interested in working with freshmen, who are actively involved in the life of the faculty and are able to be an example for younger comrades.
The feature of volunteerism at faculty of electronics is that one group gets two supervisors: one is of the older course; the second is of the younger one. Thus reached the minimum age gap between curators and their students, allowing you to achieve better understanding and helps to create strong student asset. Experience shows that students who were supervisors help colleagues not only at the first year, but also in the future. "
All parties were unanimous: the practice of supervising at NTUU "KPI" is useful for adaptation and formation of personality according to the standards of higher education.
