The celebration on occasion of the 15th anniversary of the University "Ukraine" took place at the Center of Culture and Arts of the National Technical University of Ukraine "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute". This is not surprising, because Petro Talanchuk – the current President of the University "Ukraine" and the former rector of NTUU "KPI" is always accepted as welcome guest.
Petro Talanchuk got an engineering profession at Kiev Polytechnic Institute. He started his journey as a student of KPI and finished as its rector (1987-1992). He held the post of Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine from 1992 to 1994. As an educator for many years Petro Mykhaylovich understood the fact that not all gaps of higher education are filled, as well as there are categories of Ukrainians for whom the study at universities is simply unavailable. As the result the idea to establish a university which would be open for all occurred.
Unlike other private universities, the University "Ukraine" was established to provide the educational services to disabled people. This was the main mission emphasized by Ukrainian politician and diplomat, Doctor of Economics, Professor Oleg Bilous in his speech:
−The honor and dignity of this university is that it performs a great humanistic function of the highest qualification staff training among the disabled people. Today I want to congratulate the University "Ukraine" and wish very success. I believe that the university will soon become a research and each student will be able to get a job with the help of academic profession and service to the people of Ukraine.
The University "Ukraine" is famous for its student life and active leisure time. There are many gifted people among students and teachers of the university. Some of them had the opportunity to show their skills during the concert. Among these people, for example, was an Honored Artist of Ukraine, pandora-player and singer, a senior teacher of management department Svitlana Myrvoda. Unlike her colleague, a director of the Institute of Philology and Mass Communication Natalia Barna is not a prize winner in the field of culture and art, but, nevertheless, she excellent sang a song "Kalyna" to a guitar accompanied by her husband Vlad Barna. The future journalist Yevgenia Borodina pleased all the guests by her recurrent melody of "Okean Elzy" - the song "Above the sky". A former Miss University Anna Stukaliuk convinced the public that «Show must go on».
15 years for the university is a young age and, as they say, all the most important will come. In spite of its short history, the University "Ukraine" received national and international recognition. The institution is a center of sport, volunteer and scout youth movement, it is also was awarded for a significant contribution to the HIV/AIDS control. The university has received a lot of thanks from Kyiv City Center of Social Services for Family, Children and Youth, United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund, National Scout Organization of Ukraine etc. for a systemic implementation of measures aimed at health improvement of young people and propaganda of sports activities among the students.
The teaching staff of the University "Ukraine" perform its obligations in order to provide Ukraine with educated specialists and help people realize the importance of the life. These facts were emphasized by the President of the University, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, Doctor of Engineering Sciences, Professor, current member of the Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, initiator of establishment and the President of the Academy of Engineering Sciences of Ukraine Petro Talanchuk.
− Let me congratulate all of us on the 15-year anniversary, - addressed Petro the audience. We strongly believe in the fact that we will become one of the most prestigious universities not only in Ukraine but also in the world. May good success attend us! Long live Ukraine, our homeland, long live "Ukraine", our university!
