On May 29th in the hall of the Council of NTUU "KPI" were celebrations to mark the 20th anniversary of the Department of Telecommunications and the 10th anniversary of its formation on the basis of educational institute of telecommunication systems NTUU "KPI".
The president, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Professor Michael Zakharovych Zgurovsky opened the meeting, which united all the generations of students, faculty and staff of ITS, as well as representatives of government, the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, colleagues from other universities and business partners.
"In our university we are proud of the Institute for Telecommunication Systems, - he said in his speech. - The success of Institute profits from several factors. First - the rapid development of the information society and the increasing influence of modern information and communication technologies in all areas of modern life. But more important still is the second - the people who work here. After all, ITS gathered brilliant cohort of scholars, teachers, researchers, which includes 11 laureates of the State Prize in Science and Technology of the USSR, USSR and Ukraine. Scientists and teachers of the Institute are into scientific progress and this is another key to providing high quality training within its walls professionals for the national economy. No wonder 14 of its students in recent years have won the national student academic competitions and contests. "
The vice-principal of NTUU “KPI” on science projects and at the same time first and true director of the Institute, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Professor Michael Yuhymovych Ilchenko described main stages of the history and development of the Institute of Telecommunication systems , appreciated by the audience, because for many presents those were pages from their personal life stories.
The staff of the department and faculty was greeted by the Deputy Chairman of the State Service for Special Communication and Information Protection of Ukraine Oleksandr Korneyko; a member of the National Commission for the State Regulation of Communications and Informatization Irina Polishchuk; Chairman of the Management Board of the joint stock company “Meridian” Vyacheslav Procenko; the Director of the V.M. Glushkov Institute of Cybernetics NASU, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Ivan Sergienko; the Director of Telecommunications and Global Information Space NASU corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, President of the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, deputy of Ukraine for several conventions Stanislav Dovgyi; the vice-principal of the Odessa National A.S. Popov Academy of communications Vadym Kaptur; the Deputy Director of the Kiev College of Communications Alexey Konovalov; the Member of the Managing Board of PJSC "Ukrtelecom" Victor Pinchuk; the Manager of the ” Microsoft Ukraine" program "Partnership in Learning" Alexandra Sizova; the Councellor of the Chairman of the National Space Agency of Ukraine Eduard Kuznetsov; graduate of ITS Vitaly Yakushev and 5th year ITS student Sergey Kashuba.
During the celebrations a number of ITS employees received state and university certificates and awards.
Participants of the meeting also greeted the graduates of the institute, which now are trained in the universities of London and Dresden by means of modern communication.
The celebration finished with the “ITS song” written and filmed by the ITS graduates, which has become its anthem.
