On the 7th of May at NTUU "KPI" was held a solemn meeting on the occasion of the 68th anniversary of the Great Victory.
The participants of the Great Patriotic War - Kyiv Polytechnic Institute veterans - were gathered in the hall of the Academic Council; there they were warmly welcomed by the first pro-rector of NTUU "KPI", academic NAS of Ukraine Yuriy Yakymenko, a chairman of the trade union of the university employees Vitaliy Molchanov, a veteran of the World War II and long-term employee of the university Mykola Trykhlib, the head of the NGO "KPI Veteran" Yuriy Nesterenko and a cadet of the Military Institute of Telecommunications and Information of NTUU "KPI", a senior soldier Julia Popravko.
"68 years have passed already since the Great Victory. However, over time this festival has not lost its relevance to our nation - stressed in his speech Yuriy Yakymenko. - Every year on May 9th, the war veterans and people of younger generations solemnly mark together the date of the liberation of mankind from fascism and remember those who gave their lives for the victory.
And today we are not only celebrating, but honoring the memory of all who died during the Great Patriotic War and remember those 163 students, teachers and employees of KPI, who did not return from the war ... ". On behalf of the meeting, the officers and cadets of the Military Institute of Telecommunications and Information of NTUU "KPI" laid flowers at the monument to the fallen students, teachers and employees of KPI in the World War II battles. Completed the celebrations with commemorate photo and a whisk of songs performed by members of a vocal group "Siome pochuttia (The seventh sense)" led by Svitlana Tokar of the Center of Culture and Arts of NTUU "KPI".
