The 6th of December, at the day of Armed Forces of Ukraine and on the eve of International day of civilian aviation, took place a sonorous ceremony of opening the science lab-flight IAK-40. This flight was presented to National Technical University “Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” by National Aviation University. In the ceremony took part the rector of NTUU “KPI” Zgurovsky Mihaylo, the rector of National Aviation University Mykola Kulyk, the head of Security Service of Ukraine during long term, now the adviser of the head of Customs administration of Ukraine Leonid Derkach, pro-rector of NTUU “KPI” Mihaylo Ilchenko, the first pro-rector NAU, member of Ukrainian parliament Maxim Lutsky, the director of National museum of aviation Yuriy Ziatdinov, the main engineer of this museum Vikor Chuba, the dean of the aviation and space systems faculty of NTUU “KPI” Oleksandr Zbrutsky, co-workers, professors and students of NTUU “KPI” and NAU.
Actually, the flight IAK-40 was placed on campus territory of KPI in august. This air liner with side number UR-87685 transported dozens hundreds of passengers. Though it is not just a memorial-exponent of National polytechnic museum NTUU “KPI”. It is a science lab, or, to be more precise, scientific-laboratorial center, created on a base of the flight facility, which is used on air ways in many countries of the world.
About the history of the flight UR-87685 told the director of National museum of aviation Yuriy Ziatdinov on the sci-practical conference about history and achievements of national flight and rocket engineering, that took place in the hall of Scientific committee of KPI after end of the ceremony. The rector of NTUU “KPI” Mihaylo Zgurovsky thanked the colleagues from NAU for the extremely important and valuable present, and the rector of NAU Mylola Kulyk reminded everyone, that it is KPI in 1933 gave a life to a new university, which now has a status of national, about close and friendly relationships, that connect our universities and noticed, that transferring of the flight is an example of essential friendly cooperation of two universities which work for the future of the country.
About using the lab constructed on the base of flight IAK-40 and about main directions of researches and construction works, which now are hold on the aviation and space systems faculty, informed the dean of this faculty Oleksandr Zbrutsky.
The conference was finished by the presentation of a new book by general of the army Leonid Derkach from series “KGB-CIA: the war of security services” and by his very interesting memories about working in the branch of rocket and space, firstly as an engineer-constructor KB “Pivdenne” and then as a worker of security service. He accentuated on circumstances of constructing and setting on arming strategic missile system “Satana” and “Skalpel” and on some interesting engineering solutions, that were realized in them. And also he told about opposition of security services of USSR and possible opponents countries in the branch of rocket and space and, in general, in self-defense, about a range of almost unknown for everyone episodes of his life the witness of which he was.
