In Ukraine, more than 60% of fires that cause great human and material losses are associated with low fire safety of electrical products. The fire and combustion products quickly spread by the cables if they are not fire -resistant. These combustion products are harmful to human life. Creation of the modern cables with increased bandwidth, that are fireproof and do not support combustion improves reliability, safety and environmental performance of cable lines.
For a long time Ukraine did not have its own production of fireproof cables world-class, so we imported them from other countries. There has been created a deficient of such electrical products even for strategically important objects - nuclear power plants (NPPs), subway, rail and air terminals, enterprises and other significant gatherings of people and property.
Therefore, in 2009 the Department of Theoretical Electrical Engineering NTUU "KPI" and PJSC "Plant" Yuzhkabel "(Kharkov) began joint research. The main problem in this research work was to preserve the electrical properties of the cable and wire transmission lines at higher ambient temperature of their individual sites in fires. And in 2013, after the completion of the work it has been developed scientific basis for the creation and implementation into production of domestic fireproof products using world-class electro concepts, methods, mathematical models of domestic technologies, materials, structures and technological installations for industrial manufacturing, testing and diagnosis of such products.
As a result new technologies in production of such cables appeared. It gives the possibility to provide the industry with domestic fireproof, flame-retardant cables for communications. These cables have minor smoke emissions, low corrosion activity and small amount of harmful combustion products. They have also a long-term resistance to extreme temperatures indoors. They can be used in industrial and civil construction, energy and engineering companies, Ukrainian Railways, Metro and the like.
New scientific results are included in 39 publications: 1 book, 1 of the publication, 1 patent, 2 papers in journals included in the international scientific-metric database Scopus, 15 articles in specialized journals in Ukraine and 2 methodical publications. The results were presented at the 18th international scientific and technical conferences. M. Szczerba is the winner of the contest "young teacher-researcher - 2014".
For solving important scientific and technological task of national level by Presidential Decree of December 16, 2014 Maxim Anatolyevich Shcherbov - Ph.D., Senion teacher of the Department of Theoretical Electrical Engineering NTUU "KPI" and T.Yu.Antonets - leading technologist PJSC "Plant" Yuzhkabel "were awarded the Prize of the President of Ukraine for young scientists. It's nice that NTUU" KPI "as a research university again confirmed its high scientific potential.

In the near future, the system Euroclass, which characterizes the operational performance of fireproof products, on the borders of the euro area will prefer fireproof cables manufactured by the standards of IEC. All cables manufacturers will have to get a quality mark of the European Commission, that is, to withstand the test conditions SBI and Euroclass. It is therefore important that young Ukrainian scientists have successfully completed work "Creating a fireproof cables of different voltage classes" aimed at advancing the future conditions of the European cable market.
