Every year on the third Thursday of May we celebrate Vyshyvanka Day. This year it falls on the 19th. The holiday is aimed to preserve Ukrainian traditions and promote them within the general public.
On this day, Ukrainians around the world wear an embroidered shirt for work, study or just for a walk.
Lesia Voroniuk, a student of the Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, started the holiday in 2006 by inviting her friends to come to university in vyshyvankas.
