At Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic University was created a new structural unit - Institute of Materials Science and Advanced Technologies. This decision was made today by the Academic Council of the University.
The new institute will be formed on the basis of the Faculty of Engineering and Physics, the Welding Faculty and the Department of Laser Engineering and Physical and Technical Technologies, which is now part of the Mechanical Engineering Institute.
"The Institute is designed to extend our capacity to improve the quality of engineering and scientific training, as well as to enhance our capacity for research, which would be completed with specific technologies, specific products that are acceptable to the current industry, enterprises, etc." - explained the dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Physics Petro Loboda.
Structural changes will not adversely affect the learning process and student life. "This will not be reflected in the educational process; all educational processes will remain and, on the contrary, will even intensify," assured the Dean of IFF.
Most likely, the new institute will be operational from the new academic year, while the departments, laboratories and so on will be reformatted.
