The founder of the Cybernetics of chemical technology processes department, Professor Alla Hrygorivna Bodnar, departed from this life 25 years ago.

Without any exaggeration the life journey of this woman can be considered as heroic. She was born in May 12, 1921 in S. Onion, Cherkasy region. After graduation in 1938, the girl entered the faculty of chemical engineering of the Kiev industrial Institute (then known as KPI). In 1941 together with the Institute was evacuated to the city Tashkent, where he became a student of mechanical faculty of the Central Asian industrial Institute, which she finishes next year without the defence of diploma project. The struggle against the fascist enslavers could not leave aside the active patriot. In October 1942 Alla Bondar voluntarily joined the ranks of the red Army. At the beginning - she's a student of special military cadet school No. 3,and from March 1943 - she is in the ranks of the army. Alla's Bondar operational record was held with the task force staff of the partisan movement in the West, and then at the III Belarusian fronts. After the liberation of Belarus A. H. Bondar was sent at the disposal of the Kiev military district, and then was appointed as s teacher of the military Department of the Kiev Polytechnic Institute. In 1946 A. H. Bondar becomes a KPI student again, defends the diploma project and in February 1947 receives a diploma with honors. Then-work in KPI, postgraduate course, PhD thesis defense (1952), the title of associate Professor (1958). From 1958 to 1967 A. H. Bondar was Deputy Minister of USSR All-Union student building group and USSR Minister of education.

In 1967, she returned to the KPI and was at the head of enthusiasts of inorganic substances and mineral fertilizers technology department. When in January 1974 was organized the Department of Cybernetics of chemical technology processes, the head was Alla H. Bondar. She managed to unite like-minded people who taught the students and trained themselves. Then was prepared the first course of lectures - "Computing systems in engineering calculations'' and ''Mathematical modeling in chemical engineering" (the last textbook by A. H. Bondar was granted in 1973, and  was awarded a silver medal by Exhibition of Economic Achievements USSR in 1974). Due to methodological excellence, accessibility and ease of mathematical calculations, this tutorial does not lose value and demand among students today.

Little by little, release of young professionals enriched cybernetics staff with new experience, which was enshrined in the educational-methodical manuals and books: "Design of experiments in chemical engineering" (A. H. Bondar, G. O. Statua), "Design of experiments for process optimization of chemical technology" (A. H. Bondar, G. O. Statua, I. O. Poteyenko), "Computational mathematics in chemistry and chemical technology" (S. V. Bronowicka, R. B. Medvedev, Y. Y. Fialkov). Particularly successful was A.H.Bondar already mentioned textbook  - it was presented for her to receive the degree of Doctor of Science.

Gradually, on the department under the leadership of A. H. Bondar consist several research directions, the development of which has led to the creation in 1976 of the branch research laboratory "Design of a software model". The first major customer was Experimental Design Bureau of Automation Ministry of Chemical Industry of the USSR under the leadership by Yu. M. Luzhkov. It was made a number of important economic works for him. Their results are published in monographs "System design of chemical engineering systems" (Kiev, Tekhnika, 1983) and "Process control in metallurgy", Moscow, "Metallurgy", 1987) with the participation of G. O. Statury and R. B .Medvedev.

Strong position of the laboratory, sustainable funding from the USSR Ministry of Chemical, standing orders, qualified leadership and enthusiasm of the performers gave excellent results. Articles in prestigious journals, conference presentations, textbooks and monographs, dissertations, laid the foundation for a new academic school of Cybernetics of chemical technology processes.

Alla’s Bondar life ended prematurely in 1981 due to serious illness.

B. Alla H. was awarded the 12 government awards, including two Orders of the Red Banner and 10 medals, she is the author and co-author of over 100 scientific papers, textbooks, monographs.

In 1981 the head  of the Cybernetics of chemical technology processes Department was appointed assistant professor H.O.Statyuhu, who continued the work A.H.Bondar begun in organizational, educational and scientific fields.

Scientific papers, doctoral and PhD thesis of employees of the department and its graduates have laid the foundation of the unique scientific school "Mathematical and computer modeling of chemical and technological processes and systems." The main achievement of this school is to create a systematic approach based on the methodology of constructing mathematical models of technological systems of different nature, various scopes and for different purposes.

The scope of modern scientific interests of the Cybernetics of chemical technology processes Department associated with the use of modeling techniques and optimization technologies in the chemical and related (pharmaceutical, food, construction materials) industries.
