On the 11th of March honorable doctor of NTUU “KPI”, professor of University of Vienna Herbert Mang (Austria) spoke to students, aspirants and lecturers with the lecture on “Past, present and future researches on sustainability of engineering structures”.
Herbert Mang dedicated his lecture to review of the results of researches in the area of sustainability of engineering structures, began with the works of Leonard Ayler and Stepan Timoshenko and finished with some results of his own scientific researches, modern state in this discipline and perspectives of its further development.
As the eminent expert in the area of strength of materials Herbert Mang is famous not only in Austria, but also far beyond. He has a rank of professor, headed the operation of computer laboratory in its own university for many years, was the dean of civil engineering department, pro-rector, vice-president of Vienna Technological University. At the same time doctor Mang worked as visit-professor and expert in universities of the USA, Japan, People's Republic of China. From 2003 professor Mang has become the member of Scientific Council of Austrian Republic Federal Government, President of Science Academy of Austria (2003-2006), member of the board of Austrian Science Foundation.
