The first president of independent Ukraine, Leonid Kravchuk, died at the age of 89.
Leonid Makarovych Kravchuk is an outstanding political and public figure who dedicated his life to the formation of a free, democratic, prosperous state of Ukraine.
For the past 25 years, Leonid Makarovych headed the Ukrainian Peace Council, a non-governmental organization dedicated to establishing peace and harmony in Ukraine and abroad.
Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute has been a collective member of the UPC since 2007. And on November 19, 2014, Leonid Kravchuk opened an office of the Ukrainian Peace Council in the library of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.
