We celebrated 90th anniversary of our first newspaper edition on 21 April.
90 years ago, students, teachers and colleagues of Christian Rakovsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (Institute had the name of the famous revolutionary, who headed particular time the USSR Council of People's Commissars) got the first of a new all institute printed newspaper «Kyiv Polytechnic». It was stated in the logo of the newspaper: "Bureau Authority in KP (b) I, LKSMI, The Executive Bureau of Profsection, Management and the Local «Rakovskiy Kyiv Polytechnic Institute». This newspaper replaces the wall paper of the Institute which was called "KPIR" – as well as the institute name.
The first issue signed chief editor - Polytechnic student and aspiring writer Ivan Moysya. Later he became a famous writer. However, readers do not know his real name only the pseudonym Ivan La. He became the historyof Ukrainian literature as the author of one of the first «productive» writings in Soviet literature - "Roman mizhir'ya", also he is the author of many novels and short stories, epic historical work, there are some novels among them which are popular and to this day "Bogdan Khmelnitsky" and "Nalyvayko."
Interestingly, that exactly a month before the «Kyiv Polytechnic», on 21March, 1927 was established writer's magazine "Literary Gazette". The editor of this newspaper was also Ivan Moysya. This edition was a part of the Proletarian Writers Ukrainian Union. As well as "Kyiv Polytechnic" newspaper this newspaper still goes under the name of "Literary Ukraine". There is a newspaper of Ukrainian writers.
«The wall newspaper "KPIR" perfectly served as mirror of public works in KPI and a printed newspaper is a higher level of social work at the university.», was stated in the front article of the first issue of "Kyiv Polytechnic", also it was said that the exchange of experiences, exposing errors, reasonable, feasible steps are required.
«That is what Kyiv Politehnyk has to do». «He should light the fire in a professor or student or employee thirst for creating accessible friendly, academic work ... We need to work. We need to take yourself in hands and to work in such way so that to encourage the others!
It can be said that there is a briefly formulated program of newspaper activities, which carried out throughout its history. But this story was not easy: there were not only breaks and changes of the titles, there was also reorganizing of our institution.
«Kyiv Polytechnic» company newspaper were published only a year and half. Due to lack of funds in 1928, she was published again as a wall newspaper; the edition was renewed having the title «KPI» on 20 January in 1929 and continued consecutive numbering of its predecessors.
Kiev Polytechnic Institute was reorganized in the second half of 1930, at it based eight independent institutions, including the Kyiv Engineering Institute, which «For red frames» company newspaper replaced the newspaper «KPI». In June of 1934 the three institutions - Engineering, Energy and Chemical Engineering - were united in Kyiv Industrial Institute, whose authority on 16June in1934 was the newspaper «Proletarian Student». With the number of 15 (100) the newspaper changed its title to "Soviet student" on 17 december, 1936.
In World War II the Institute was evacuated to Tashkent, he joined the Central Asian Polytechnic Institute; the newspaper of joint institutions was published. After returning from evacuation in 1944-1948, the wall newspaper was only published in KPI. The company newspapers resumed publication under the new title «For the Soviet engineer» on 1 January 1949 , which led to consecutive numbering only in 1949, without numbering predecessors. The newspaper began to appear under the original title «Kyiv Polytechnic» since 1 January 1988 continuing the numbering since 1927, after the №44 (1507) of 31 December 1987 was published Number 1 (2018) on 7 January 1988.
In conjunction with the whole country Institute experienced violent social change. The newspaper was changed too. However, it stand the test of time and now it is one of the oldest university newspapers in Ukraine.
«Kyiv Polytechnic» is already a year comes in a new format, on eight pages. Although the development of new technologies due to the number of channels of communication in the modern world has increased significantly, university newspaper reader does not loose her. Moreover, now it is read not only by current students but also it is read by staff of the National Technical University of Ukraine « Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute» but also their counterparts in many countries, because «Kyiv Polytechnic» has its own page on the official website of the University, where its new edition are launched. But the most important is that the newspaper «Kyiv polytechnic» today and throughout its history, remains a major chronicler of events that take place in the walls of one of the most famous universities of Ukraine.
