From the 5th to 9th of October in the NTUU “KPI” at the Faculty of Physical Engineering, V international scientific conference on high technologies in materials science "HighMatTech-2015" was held.
The conference was organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, NTUU "KPI", Frantsevich Institute for Problems of Materials Science NAS Ukraine, Ukrainian Materials Research Society.
The conference was opened by the head of the organizing committee of the International Conference "HighMatTech-2015" NAS of Ukraine academician V.V Skorokhod. At the plenary meeting the reports were made by eminent scientists, academicians V. Skorokhod, S.O Firstova, Y. Solonin, correspondent Y. Milman, R.A Andrievsky, A.V Raguli, foreign scientists Shabalin I. (Materials & Physics Research Centre, University of Salford, Manchester United Kingdom) and N. McDonald (Centre for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Research, School of Chemical Engineering, University of Birmingham, Birmingham, United Kingdom). The report of Acad. V.V Skorokhod was dedicated to 110th anniversary of outstanding scientist Acad. I.M Frantsevich - founder of Institute for Problems of Materials Science NAS Ukraine, which now is named after him. The subject-matter of plenary meeting covered the following issues : material science aspects of hydrogen energy; high entropy alloy; nanofacematerial science; ceramic of functional and structural purpose; composite materials.
The subject-matter of conference included the frontmost issues:
- Fundamental principles of contemporary materials science. Modeling of the technological processes for making materials and the properties of contemporary materials for various purposes.
- Metallic materials and technologies for production. High-entropy alloys.
- Powder metallurgy: science and industry; modern materials, technologies and properties.
- Nanofacematerials science: technologies and materials.
- Ceramics for functional and constructional purposes. High-temperature and heat-resistant materials.
- Latest developments in the field of designing polymeric materials with improved characteristics.
- Composite materials: special properties and prospects in practical use.
- Engineering of surface.
- Modern technologies of joining of materials.
- Equipments and methods for characterization materials.
The conference was attended by about 300 leading experts and scholars from 14 countries, including 240 participants from Ukraine and 53 foreign participants (3 from Algeria, 7 from Azerbaijan, 8 of Armenia, 2 from the Federal Republic of Germany, one from the Czech Republic, one of the French Republic, one of the Turkish Republic, 4 from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, 2 from Poland, 11 from Belarus, 10 from Russia, 2 from Georgia, 1 from Luxembourg).
Sixty-eight educational Institution, research institutions and industrial companies attended the conference, including 40 domestic and 28 foreign. The number of students who participated in the conference - 62; young scientists - 45.
The conference was also attended by students of Minor Academy of Science of Ukraine. They listened to lectures, doing poster and multimedia presentations on their own research. Scientists` research of "KPI" were presented in almost all sections of the conference. They mainly gave reports about powder metallurgy, fundamental principles of contemporary materials science, problems of construction - ceramics for functional and constructional purposes, engineering of surface, heavy-duty and superhard composite tooling materials, nonmaterial’s science.
International Scientific Conference "High¬MatTech-2015" provided an opportunity to exchange information and the last scientific results and will help expand participation in international and European programs, entering the international research area, networking between materials scientist and industrial entrepreneur, joining efforts of the international scientific community to develop new technologies of synthesis, researching of the structure and properties of materials and involvement students in research engineering for their gaining of scientific and educational experience.
