This year's admission campaign in NTUU "KPI" was not easy. The number of applications was also somewhat lower than in 2014. The admission plan was reduced by 12% (last year the state order was 4,313 persons, admitted 4311, this year the state order was 3951 person, admitted 3315). Last year we thought that it was almost extraordinary event, when on the two departments were an insufficient number of students, but now this figure differs significantly. The data still require comprehension and it is a serious cause for further action.
Assortment. It should be noted that the KPI was not the only one with Ukrainian universities (except is a few faculties KNU), which put forward high requirements for certification testing. 150 points is the minimum that we took according to one of the main disciplines, and 124 points is a minimum of two other disciplines to participate in the competition. For other universities minimum score was not limited, and took with 100 points. In addition to objective reasons we have a limited number of students. This year took physics as an exam only 40 thousand graduates throughout Ukraine, of which about 10,000 got two marks, and we had physics as compulsory exam for all technical faculties. For example, many of our partner universities chosen a foreign language as the main subject, not physics for engineering faculties, which passed are not 40 and 80 thousand of students, that is twice as much.
Contest. With an average of 6.5 contest on applications by the university, but on a facultaties it was different. Unfortunately, today in Ukraine there is a situation where in demand is legal, economic and other humanities speciality. So traditionally our humanities faculties such as FSL, FMM, FL had contest significantly above average (see. Diagr. 1). On the direction of "Advertising and public relations" a contest for places of government order was 132.7; on the direction of "International Economics" was 97.6; on the "Marketing" was 80.6; on the "Economics of Enterprise" a contest was 71.5; on the "Science of Law" was 61.1; on the "Publishing and Editing" a contest was 51.1. Also had a good contest faculties working in the field of information technology. In this case, the contest on the direction of "Metallurgy" was 2.07; on "Engineering Materials science" was 2.17 and on the "Foundry" was 2.33. Generally, the contest was for all the faculties, when we talk about the application.
Contingent. As for the comparative characteristics contingent, it's from year to year not significantly changing: most applicants are graduates of schools, boys are more than 70%, one-third of graduates are from PSD, medalists are over 20%. This means that come the best graduates in the KPI. When to compare the distribution of testing ratings in Ukraine and for our enrollees, we can say that we have the best students. But they don't all stand our requirements.
Working with partners.
Twelve faculties this year not adhered the previous plan a set of freshman(see. Diagr. 2). For the first time we had to adjust our plans. On the future need to be more realistic. We always say that first of all we have to work with enrollees. The use of pre-university training is one way to solve this problem. Where faculties are working actively to attract enrollees, there scored a planned number. On FICT among 284 freshmen are graduates of the SPD, on the IASA is 139, on the FHPE is 124, on the FPM is 114. Today we have nearly 300 partner schools. It's nice that 90% of our high school graduates were students. I emphasize that all students are equal for us. We have the same requirements, regardless of whether budgetary or own funds enrolled student. This year, the contract gained less than half of the faculties. On FICT enrolled 116, on the FMM and FSL enrolled on 95, on FL enrolled 83, on IPP enrolled 78.
Accession on the fifth year. This year on the fifth course Masters enrolled more than last year 1230 on intramural, specialists on intramural enrolled 1069. On extramural enrolled 186 of specialists (as an exception for those who work in specialty) and no one Master on extramural. We believe that extramural studies for Masters is not acceptable. According to the contract, Masters enrolled 137 on intramural, but on extramural enrolled 83 (who has specialist degree, works and wants to get the second education), specialists on intramural enrolled 82, on extramural enrolled 226.
In general on intramural enrolled 3843 of bachelors (of which the budget is 86.3%); Specialists are 1,151 (92.9% of the budget); Masters is 1367 (90.0% of the budget).
Conclusions. The data above indicate that not everything is well in our country with technical education. The rector, M. Zgurovsky in his speech at the conference of teaching staff KPI and in the media tried to analyze these trends. There are both objective and subjective moments. Objective depend on the attitude to technical education in the country as a whole and what we do not orient and not adjusted our vocational work. This year, unlike previous years, when the whole street Polytechnique was filled with willing to submit the documents, the street was empty. The most of enrollees filed documents electronically, without seeing the KPI, not communicating with representatives of faculties, focusing only on their priorities in our country, unfortunately, focused on the legal, financial and other areas. It turned out that those enrollees who meet our requirements (we can't lower our requirements), is not enough. This objective. But there are also subjective. We had over recent years positive reception dynamics and relaxed, hoping that in any case, that enrollees "will come". To dial it is not a problem, but to dial such enrollees who then will be study is not easy. On the one hand, we have identified the requirements, and on the other we are not working with the most enrollees.
So we have to conduct a serious analysis of the reception in 2015 at meetings of scientific councils of faculties and departments. We have to analyze who entered and how, who and why didn't come, who came and what to do next. We will take into account the acceptance as one of the indicators during internal licensing graduating department. We have to activate vocational work faculties (institutes) for program "Ukraine's Future" and cooperation with the SDP to improve the efficiency of selection and involvement of enrollees, to improve cooperation with MAN (for areas offices), to involve student organizations using student projects "Excursion" and "Enrollee ". In front of a lot of work and the team of like-minded NTUU "KPI" is able to professionally respond to the challenges and successfully solve tasks.
