On June 23, 2024, Petro Ivanovych Bidiuk, Professor of the Department of Mathematical Methods of System Analysis of the Educational and Research Institute of Applied Systems Analysis of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (IASA), celebrated his 75th birthday.

🖹
P.I. Bidyuk is a Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology, a well-known expert in mathematical modeling of non-stationary nonlinear processes in various fields; methods of statistical data analysis, adaptive forecasting; automatic control of technological processes and technical systems.

Petro Ivanovych devoted his entire professional life to research and education. He graduated from the Faculty of Radio Electronics of the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. He has been working at KPI since 1979. He has held the position of Senior Researcher at the Department of Technical Cybernetics since 1986. In 1986 he defended his PhD thesis “Microprocessor control system of the crystallizer unit in the production of paraffin waxes” under the supervision of Prof. V. V. Azhogin. In 1996, he defended his doctoral dissertation “Analysis and control of large space structures” in the specialty 05.13.03 - “Control systems and processes”, scientific adviser Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine M.Z. Zgurovsky. Since 1997, he has been a professor at the Department of Mathematical Methods of System Analysis at IASA. He was awarded the academic title of Professor of the Department of Mathematical Methods of System Analysis (25.04.2001). The results of his scientific research are covered in 820 publications, including 9 monographs and textbooks and about 600 scientific articles.

Currently, Professor Bidyuk teaches basic disciplines: time series analysis, applied design statistics, computer information systems, and modeling of the economy in transition. Students listen to Petro Ivanovych's lectures with great interest and respect, as evidenced by the high rating of student evaluations. He provides scientific guidance to bachelors, masters, and postgraduate students. Thanks to his mentoring, science has received 23 PhDs, 3 Doctors of Philosophy and 3 Doctors of Science. Professor Bidiuk has won the Teacher-Researcher competition 5 times in a row.

Research interests: mathematical modeling, methods of forecasting non-stationary nonlinear processes based on mathematical and statistical models; development of theoretical foundations and methods for analyzing causal relationships in hierarchical systems based on Bayesian networks, probabilistic forecasting of states of dynamic systems in the presence of uncertainties of different nature.

Petro Ivanovych heads the research group “Probabilistic and statistical modeling and forecasting of nonlinear nonstationary processes, financial risk management”, and has been the leader and executor of many research projects. He also chairs the section “Data Mining for Complex Socio-Economic Processes and Systems” at the SAIC World Conference on Systems Analysis and Intelligent Computing under the auspices of the IEEE. His work has been repeatedly recognized by diplomas, certificates of honor and awards from Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, the Ministry of Education and Science and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, including the NAS of Ukraine award “For Preparing a Scientific Change” and the MES of Ukraine award “For Scientific Achievements”.

For achievements in scientific and pedagogical activities, for conscientious work for the benefit of the university, by the decision of the Academic Council of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute of 24.06.2024, P.I. Bidyuk was awarded the honorary title “Honored Professor of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”.
