The team of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute is the absolute winner of the II Kyiv Chess Championship among the teaching staff of higher education institutions of the capital of Ukraine!
The competition for victory was fierce and lasted two days:
📌 team round of rapid chess (rapid) according to the Swiss system;
📌 individual blitz (3+2) competitions in five categories: 1) women; 2) vice-rectors, rectors, presidents; 3) doctors of sciences, professors; 4) candidates of sciences, associate professors; 5) university staff.
🏆 This year our team won among 15 higher education institutions in Kyiv:
- Serhii Stirenko (Vice-Rector for Research);
- Renata Voroshylova (Lecturer at the Department of German Theory, Practice and Translation, Faculty of Linguistics, FL);
- Volodymyr Kabaniachyi (Professor of the Department of Aircraft and Rocketry at the Educational and Research Institute of Aerospace Technologies, Institute of IAT);
- Ivan Kruglov (Senior Lecturer at the Department of Physical Materials Science and Heat Treatment, E.O. Paton Educational and Research Institute of Materials Science and Welding, Institute of IMZ);
- Yevhen Krylov, Associate Professor of the Department of Information Systems and Technologies, Faculty of Informatics and Computer Science, FIOT);
- Dmytro Chebonenko (postgraduate student, lecturer at the Faculty of Linguistics, FL);
- Oleksandr Strelchenko (employee of the Department of Information and Analytical Support of the Educational Process of the Department of Organization of the Educational Process).

We are proud that this championship, organized with the support of the NGO “Sports Club ‘Intellect, Beauty, Power of the Capital’, the Kyiv City Branch of the Center for Physical Education and Sports of Pupils and Students of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, the Kyiv Chess Federation, is being held at our university for the second time.
We congratulate our winners and wish them victory in the Ukrainian Chess Championship, where our team will represent Kyiv and fight for leadership!
