The participants of the conference honored the memory of thirteen Kyiv Polytechnic students who gave their lives in the battles for the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine during 2024; reviewed the implementation of the Collective Agreement for the period from April 2024 to April 2025, the Labor Protection Agreement and the Collective Agreement between the administration and the students' trade union committee for the period from April 2024 to April 2025; approved the activities of the rector and the university's trade union committees last year; and approved the Collective Agreements for the next five years, for 2025-2030. In “miscellaneous” matters, the delegates considered and decided to amend the Internal Regulations, approve the new composition of the Labor Disputes Commission and the Commission on Social, Legal and Housing Issues, and others.
Anatoliy Melnychenko, Rector of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, was the first to take the floor. "2024 has become a year of new challenges and changes for our university and, at the same time, a period of confirmation of its important role in the life of the country. The full-scale war in the country has been going on for the fourth year in a row and our team continues to respond with dignity to the challenges it has brought, - these were the first words of his report and the main idea that ran through all its sections, - Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute demonstrates an example of resilience, helping the state to survive today and preparing for a large-scale restoration of the country in the future." Then he gave a thorough analysis of the university's activities over the past year in all areas defined by its Charter, separately focused on the implementation of each section of the Collective Agreement and described the measures taken to do so.
The reports on the results of the work and implementation of the Collective Agreement for the period from April 2024 to April 2025 by the chairman of the university trade union committee Yurii Veremiiichuk and the chairman of the university student trade union committee Ihor Stepaniuk seemed to concern purely trade union issues, but, given the specifics of trade union work, they were directly related to the course of the entire life of the university team of many thousands. We present the texts of the first and second in this issue.
After the presentations, several questions and suggestions were made from the audience regarding the organization of further work of the university and its departments, which will be taken into account.
Finally, Oleksandr Yatsun, chairman of the Kyiv City Organization of the Trade Union of Education and Science Workers of Ukraine, took the floor as a guest of the Conference. The head of the city trade union of educators offered to evaluate the work of the rector and the university's trade union committees positively. He also spoke about how to solve the problem of providing Single Tickets for orphaned students, which was mentioned in his speech by Ihor Stepaniuk, what is being done at the level of the city organization, and what the Students' Trade Union should do together with the Kyiv Teachers' Trade Union. In addition, Oleksandr Yatsun told the delegates that from the first days of the full-scale war, the activities of the Kyiv Education Trade Union Organization have acquired the characteristics of volunteering: "As of today, by cooperating and helping the Armed Forces of Ukraine, namely the 12th Azov Brigade, the 152nd Ranger Brigade and border guards, Kyiv educators, including you (i.e. Kyiv Polytechnics), have already collected and delivered 320 attack and reconnaissance drones to our soldiers for a total of UAH 23 million. And the marathon of assistance will continue until the complete and final victory."
