At the end of February, a delegation of American military reservists headed by Major General William Mullen, former commander of the US Marine Corps Training Command, visited Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. It also included Andrew Bain, CEO of Sonata Holding LLC (USA). The delegation was accompanied by Captain Andriy Ryzhenko, reserve first rank, former Deputy Chief of Staff of the Ukrainian Navy, and Anastasia Korunova, Executive Director of the Ukrainian Center for Humanitarian Protection.
Rector of the University Mykhailo Zgurovskyi, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Anatolii Melnychenko, Director of the Institute of Advanced Defense Technologies Yurii Yekhanurov, Head of the All-Ukrainian Innovation Ecosystem "Sikorsky Challenge Ukraine" Inna Maliukova, Head of the Military Training Department Volodymyr Dubinin and other staff members met with the guests. The participants of the meeting discussed the issues of advanced training with the participation of the Institute of Advanced Defense Technologies and the Military Department of KPI in the field of defense industry management. They discussed special training and retraining courses for our defenders. The acquired knowledge will allow Ukrainian military to implement new technologies, competently set their current requests in writing technical specifications and control the quality of military products. "We will help people to think globally, out of the box, and become closer to innovation," says William Mullen, "Our approach is active learning, which is very different from lecture. He also noted that "KPI has a great reputation and its students make a great contribution to the victory of Ukraine." Therefore, KPI will continue to expand cooperation with Sonata Holding LLC in these areas.
Yuriy Yekhanurov emphasized that KPI will become a center for advanced training for teachers who will work with the military. He also mentioned the idea of organizing Ukrainian colleges with advanced military training. Among other things, he said, it would be desirable for the teachers of these colleges to receive additional training at KPI on all the new developments that have already been made in the military sphere in Ukraine and the world.
