"Ukraine deserves freedom, equality and security. America and its partners have a plan to make it happen," said U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, speaking to students and staff of Kyiv Polytechnic.
Blinken emphasized that Ukrainians prevented Putin from realizing his goal of "wiping Ukraine off the map."
The American diplomat noted that the United States will always stand with Ukraine, provide military and economic support, and speed up its accession to NATO.
"With our support, the Ukrainian people can and will achieve their vision of the future. It will be a free, independent, democratic country, fully integrated into the Euro-Atlantic space," said Mr. Blinken.
During the meeting, Anthony Blinken noted the contribution of Kyiv Polytechnic to the future victory: "Your university, its graduates, students, and teachers stood up to defend their country. They left their past lives, relatives and friends at home. The names of those who gave their lives for the freedom of Ukraine are immortalized here on campus. Among them are famous scientists, illustrators, musicians, and athletes."
In turn, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute Rector Mykhailo Zgurovsky said: "Our nations were together during the Second World War and now you are supporting us. We thank you for your support in the struggle for independence.
Today, many Kyiv Polytechnicians work in the United States. Many Kyiv Polytechnicians are working in your country - about half a thousand at Microsoft, as well as at the Boeing Engineering Center. We are ready to further expand the scope of our cooperation."
Anthony Blinken is on a visit to Kyiv. During a meeting with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, he expressed hope that together with its partners, Ukraine will be able to make the coming months successful on the battlefield.
