The KPI team defended the title of Kyiv Rapid Chess Champion, which it has held since 2016, at the city chess championship among university student teams under the program of the XVIII Summer Universiade of Kyiv.
The tournament was held at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Teams from 13 higher education institutions of the capital - Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, Vadym Hetman Kyiv National Economic University, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, KNUBA, DUT, NaUKMA, NAOMA, NULES, Bogomolets National Medical University, European University, NAU, KNLU and IAPM - took part in the tournament.
In total, the participants played 7 rounds, the results of which determined the winners of the team rapids competition.
In the individual competition, the first place was also won by a representative of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, a student of the FBMI Olena Dvornytska.
It is planned to hold another city student chess tournament in the fall and to dedicate it to the 125th anniversary of the university.
