On April 10-12, 2023, the Department of Power Supply of the Institute of IEE and the Department of Thermal and Alternative Energy of the Institute of IAPM jointly held an open university student Olympiad in the discipline "Energy Management" for the specialties 141 "Electric Power Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electromechanics" and 144 "Heat Power Engineering" in a remote mode and synchronous format.
The competition was attended by 34 students from the leading technical universities of Ukraine - National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute", Vinnytsia National Technical University, National Technical University "Dnipro Polytechnic", National University "Odesa Polytechnic", National University "Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic", National Aviation University, Central Ukrainian National Technical University, National University of Life and Environmental Sciences, Ukrainian National University of Economics and Technology, Ukrainian National University of Agriculture, and Ukrainian National University of Life and Environmental Sciences.
At the grand opening of the Olympiad, the participants were greeted by the Director of the Institute of IEE, Co-Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Professor Serhii Denysiuk; Deputy Director for Educational Work of the Institute of IAE, Professor Yevhen Havrylko, Head of the Department of Thermal and Alternative Energy, Professor Olha Chernousenko and Acting Head of the Department of Electricity Supply, Denys Derevianko.
As part of the Olympiad, two interesting webinars were held for bachelors and masters of specialties 141 "Electric Power Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electromechanics" and 144 "Heat Power Engineering". The first webinar on "Energy Efficiency Needs and Prospects in Wartime and Peaceful Times" was held by Vadym Lytvyn, Chairman of the Association of Energy Auditors of Ukraine, Director of the Center for Effective Energy Use LLC; the second webinar on "Integrated Building Renovation Systems from HERZ" was held by Mykhailo Matsunych, an engineer at the HERZ Technical Department.
Summarizing the results of the Olympiad, the jury noted that the participants demonstrated a high level of training in energy management and the ability to solve problems in both the electricity and heat sectors in the field of energy efficiency and energy saving. The knowledge demonstrated by the participants indicates an appropriate level of readiness of energy management students to become competitive specialists in the future.
At the closing ceremony on April 15, Sergii Denysiuk awarded the winners in the specialty 141 "Electric Power Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electromechanics". Yelyzaveta Tupotina (National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute") and Iryna Ptashnyk (Central Ukrainian National Technical University) received first degree diplomas; second degree diploma - Oleksandr Zhurbin (National Technical University "Dnipro Polytechnic"); third degree diploma - Oleksandr Katsimon (Vinnytsia National Technical University).
Professor Yevhen Havrylko, Deputy Director for Academic Affairs of the Institute of Heat and Power Engineering, awarded the winners of the Olympiad in the specialty 144 "Heat Power Engineering". Diana Rozumna (National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute") received the first degree diploma; Stanislav Chyzh (National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute") received the second degree diploma; and Serhii Onykiienko (Vinnytsia National Technical University) and Yurii Oksymets (National University of Life and Environmental Sciences) received the third degree diplomas.
The winners were also congratulated by the sponsors of the Olympiad: Hryhorii Romaniuk, Director of “ESCO Ukraine” LLC, and Sergii Kuzykov, Commercial Director of “E. NEXT-Ukraine” Sergiy Kuzovkin, Executive Director of “iC consulenten” Olena Rybak, Project Coordinator of the “Energy Efficiency School” NGO Anastasia Lisovyk, Technical Engineer at “HERZ Ukraine” Mykhailo Matsunych, Head of Regional Sales at “VILO Ukraine” Gennadiy Pobereznichenko, and Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Advansys Group Oleksandr Zmikhnovskyi.
