How to act in case of evacuation during an air raid. Another object-based civil defense training was held at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. This time they practiced actions in case of an air raid. Yuriy Nesterenko, the head of the civil defense headquarters, explained to the polytechnics how to leave classrooms and offices in time and quickly get to the nearest shelter.
Currently, the simplest shelters for 8.5 thousand people are functioning on the campus. The premises are equipped with powerful generators, Internet connection, dry closets, first aid kits, drinking water, and masks with wet filters in case of chemical or nuclear weapons use.
"Today, it is impossible to train a highly qualified engineer remotely, only at a computer monitor. So we are constantly working to increase the number of places in the university's shelters. In the new plan for 2023/24, we have developed a mechanism for converting most of the basements of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute into new simple shelters, which will increase the number of students in training," said Vadym Kondratyuk, Vice-Rector for Administrative Work of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.
