Vitalii Pasichnyk, Vice-Rector for Research, notes that in 2022, a significant part of the projects implemented at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute is important for the security and defense of Ukraine. Of course, we cannot even briefly list all the projects, so here are just some examples of completed research.

- A fundamental study by scientists at the Institute of Mechanical Engineering solved the problems of the technology for manufacturing powdered and composite materials, structural elements of modern equipment with extremely high operating conditions from powders of metals, alloys, and refractory compounds.

- The result of the applied research of the FEL was the development of a diagnostic method based on acoustic impact on the patient's middle ear and measurement of the main parameters of the ear, which diagnose the state of his hearing system.

- Significant results were obtained by the scientists of the Institute of IAE in the development of innovative distillers for the concentration of heat-sensitive solutions. A device for concentrating heat-sensitive liquids in a thin film on a rotating surface was manufactured and tested, which is important for life support systems in space, arid terrain, pharmaceuticals, etc.

- Also, the scientists of the Institute of IAE have developed samples of heat pipes, thermosyphons and pulsation heat pipes for a new cooling system for the radar station's transceiver module.

- A significant achievement of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute Space Program was the successful launch of the third nanosatellite of the University "PolyITAN-HP-30" into Earth orbit on January 3, 2023 from Cape Canaveral (Florida, USA) by a Falcon-9 rocket. The scientific experiment in space involves assessing the impact of space and microgravity factors on the service life and performance of mini-heat pipes of the original design.

- Basic funding also supports the activities of the Institute of Advanced Defense Technologies, which took an active part in the preparation of the Sikorsky Challenge 2022 Festival, including the defense panel, which presented innovative projects for Ukraine's defense and security.

- The state order project "Creation of an Integrated Platform for Situational Analysis of Socio-Economic and Security Phenomena" developed a set of organizational, software and hardware tools for collecting, managing and intellectual analysis of unstructured text data and integrating the created tools into the existing software environment of the Information and Analytical Situation Center of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. This complex is used by state authorities to solve problems in the field of national security and defense of Ukraine.

- The World Data Center conducted foresight studies of the impact of the most dangerous threats on the state of national security of Ukraine. Scenario models were built for the development of Ukraine's energy cluster and the formation of geopolitical conditions, including conditions for the development of Ukraine's defense industry.

- The main orders for research and development from the market contribute to improving the defense capability of the state. Scientists and engineers of the Institute of Iron and Steel are working on the project "Welding Research and Development of Welding Technology for Mars® 600 High-Hardness Rolled Steel" and the development of technology for the manufacture of iron castings and welding of rolled steel.

- The IAT is developing a flying platform for agricultural purposes, and the IEE has optimized the technological parameters of the destruction of gold-bearing quartzites.

- Scientists at the Institute of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science have worked to improve the technology for producing special parts for products that ensure the security and defense of the state. And FBMI scientists were involved in the implementation of an all-Ukrainian interagency project to reduce mortality in intensive care units caused by COVID-19 and other infectious and traumatic injuries.

- The FEA initiative developed a new method for controlling interconnected electrical and electromechanical systems under conditions of uncertainty in the mathematical model of the object based on the concept of inverse dynamics problems in combination with minimizing local functionalities of instantaneous energy values.

- The results of the initiative work of the FBMI made it possible to effectively solve the problem of automated diagnostics from ultrasound images. The results have been implemented in the practice of a number of medical institutions in Ukraine.
