Summer is a great time for high school graduates to familiarise themselves with the prospects of their future activities and find something interesting for themselves! Therefore, according to the tradition, from June 1 to 15, 2022, the annual Summer Scientific Profession-Oriented School was organised and held by areas of activity "Green Energy and Smart Grid Technologies as the Base of Innovative Development of Ukraine". As always, the Educational and Research Institute of Energy Saving and Energy Management of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, and 50 students of grades 9-11 of the Polytechnic Lyceum of NTUU "KPI" in Kyiv, and 15 members of the Kyiv Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine took part in its work.
The purpose of the Summer School is to provide theoretical and practical skills that will help students and graduate from a secondary school in choosing a profession, studies and realising their life and scientific potential.
The task of the Summer School is to conduct career guidance classes to raise awareness; familiarisation with the peculiarities of professional training at the higher education institution; formation of general competencies, in particular: innovativeness, commencement of changes, leadership role, creativity, ability to achieve goals, teamwork, public speaking, self-organisation; initial formation of specialised professional competences in technical specialties; providing opportunities to try yourself in various professional areas.
The interactive form of conducting the Summer School takes into account the individual psychological and age characteristics of the students, their interests, life experience, desires, worldview at most and gives the opportunity to develop all the necessary abilities, motivates the achievement of the best results and guarantees gradual scientific progress in a comfortable atmosphere. Thanks to an interesting educational program, students have the opportunity to develop their skills and abilities.
According to the Summer School program, lectures, practical classes, seminars and laboratory work were held online. Students also took part in performing creative independent works. Teachers and scientists of the institute worked with them - professors Sergii Boichenko and Stefan Zaichenko, associate professors Denys Derevianko and Yuriy Veremiychuk, associate professor Elena Borychenko, doctor of philosophy Glib Demchuk.
The participants of the Summer School had the opportunity to listen to the lectures "Research of energy-efficient equipment in household and industry", "Modern systems of energy management, energy audit, business planning in energy and the selection of energy-efficient equipment", "Learning to work with modern energy-saving technologies", "Organisation of environmental monitoring of the state of industrial enterprises based on the wide application of information and computer technologies", "Organisation and implementation of the measurement process using modern complexes and data verification and calculations of efficient energy use modes", "The essence and importance of energy management for effective energy supply", as well as familiarise themselves with presentations of the IEE departments.
Informal communication and exchange of experiences of lyceum students and teachers of NN IEE during the Summer School events provided an opportunity for talented boys and girls to master knowledge and acquire practical skills in the scientific direction of vital importance for Ukraine - "Green energy and Smart Grid technologies".
It should be added that thanks to the regular participation of students and teachers in the work of the Summer School, a kind of scientific and organisational environment of like-minded friends is already beginning to form. After the end of the Summer School, its participants are always given a Certificate of Attendance, and the most active - gifts from sponsors and patrons.
It is necessary to note the most active students of the Lyceum - participants of the Summer School Oleksiy Volkov, Viktor Panasyuk and Tymofiy Tarasenko.
After the end of the Summer School, an administrative meeting was organised, which was attended by the director of the Polytechnic Lyceum Yuriy Kyrychkov, the Director of the Educational and Research Institute of Energy Saving and Energy Management Sergiy Denisyuk, Scientific Secretary of the IEE Academic Council Vitaliy Pobihaylo, and the head of the technical sciences department of the Kyiv Junior Academy of Sciences, Stanislava Ignatova. There was a discussion and planning of further cooperation between the Polytechnic Lyceum of NTUU ``KPI", the Educational and Research Institute of Energy Saving and Energy Management of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and the Kyiv Junior Academy of Sciences within the educational process and career guidance work of these institutions.
