Scientists of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, in cooperation with a Ukrainian security company, have developed a unique technology for the production of bulletproof fire-resistant glass - "Transparent armor".
It was presented on the Sikorsky Challenge innovation platform.
Tests have shown that "Transparent armor" glass withstands four shots from a Kalashnikov assault rifle from a distance of 10 meters. And this is despite the fact that the bullets hit almost next to each other. That is, a large area of glass can withstand the impact of even more bullets.
"The technology is completely ready, a special furnace for the production of transparent armor has been made and launched," Viktor Taranov, the head of the development team, associate professor at the Department of Information and Measuring Technologies of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, says.
