Dear Kyiv polytechnicians! I congratulate you sincerely on the most important holiday of our nation — the Independence Day of Ukraine!
Ukrainians have cherished the desire for independence since the depths of the centuries, from the times of Zaporozhian Sich to the times of the Cold War, when the Ukrainian diaspora in the West celebrated the Independence Day of Ukraine on January 22, the anniversary of the Unification Act, to the adoption of the Declaration on the State Sovereignty of Ukraine by the Verkhovna Rada of the Ukrainian SSR on July 16, 1990, and until the adoption of the Act of Declaration of Independence of Ukraine by the Verkhovna Rada of the Ukrainian SSR on August 24, 1991.
For the past 30 years, Ukrainians have traditionally celebrated this day with military parades, concerts, patriotic actions, festivals, songs and flowers.
Unfortunately, the 31st year of Independence brought bitter trials to Ukraine. The Ukrainian people are forced to fight for the most precious things - their independence, sovereignty, right to live in their own country.
In these hard times, the Ukrainian nation is well and truly toughening in the struggle, impressing the world with its indomitability, great strength and love of freedom. Victory in this struggle will forever honour the Ukrainian nation as one of the most decent among the civilised nations of the world. Ukrainians have no other way.
Glory to Ukraine!
With kindest regards,
