DTEK launched an ecological and industrial touristic project for young people in Ladyzhyn.
Students and teachers have already visited the unique energy complex of Ladyzhyn TPP. They also learned about the process of electricity generation and prospects for energy development.
The Ladyzhyn TPP complex combines three directions of electricity generation: traditional thermal, hydro, and solar power plants. This power plant is the only example in Ukraine of shunting and renewable electricity generation in one city. The convenient location of Ladyzhyn thermal power plant, Ladyzhyn hydroelectric power plant, and Ladyzhyn solar power plant allows you to find out in detail the principles of production in a few hours and watch how these power plant types of generation work. It is what students of the Department of Heat and Power Engineering of the HPE Faculty of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and other universities met with.
The students visited the control panels; studied the turbine and the boiler, the tipper, and the coal conveyor belt. They also earned about the innovations that DTEK is actively developing: using artificial intelligence for occupational safety and drones for equipment inspection. Future heat engineers examined the facilities of Ladyzhyn HPP and SPP. They also watched how power engineers preserve a favorable ecosystem for a pond with fish and a nesting place for birds near the enterprises.
Inna Bednarska, a lecturer at the Department of Heat and Power Engineering of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, said: “Today, students learn about the country's industrial facilities mainly from books and videos. Such a way, of course, does not allow one to feel how the company works and how important it is for Ukraine. DTEK's initiative is to show our talented young people unique objects and pass on the experience and understanding of the work of the country's strategic enterprises. The enterprises in Ladyzhyn are examples not only of a powerful energy industry but also of a responsible ecological attitude to the production and the environment. We hope that the ecological and industrial touristic project will gain momentum and promote the activities of specialists in this field.”
“We aim to make energy simple, accessible, and open to everyone. We want to show that it is efficient and environmentally friendly. The future of Ukraine is in the hands of our business and youth. And when young people can see with their own eyes the current state, the latest technologies, and prospects, they will make efforts to develop energy, the economy, and our country,” said Ihor Sniehin, Director of Ladyzhyn TPP.
