On December 14, 2020, a regular meeting of the Academic Council of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. Mykhailo Ilchenko chaired the meeting. Before the beginning of the meeting, he congratulated Dean of the Faculty of Electronics, Professor Valerii Yakovlevych Zhuikov, on his anniversary birthday.
The first agenda item of the Academic Council was the report of Rector Mykhailo Zgurovsky on the brief results of the calendar year 2020. Mykhailo Zakharovych briefed the participants of the meeting on the work of the University in the areas of: university management, administration, Academic Council, education, research and innovation, student affairs work, international relations, administration and maintenance of the University. Then the Academic Council considered the issue of approval of the Admission Rules to Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute 2021 for all three levels of training: bachelors, masters, PhD. Vice-rector Yuriy Yakymenko reported on the issue telling the main differences in the conditions of the admission 2021 company compared to 2020. He also announced the timeline of the admissions process, described the tasks facing the units for organizing admissions. Previously, the Admission Rules were considered at a meeting of the Methodical Council with the participation of representatives of the Academic Council on Educational Activities. As a result, the Academic Council approved the Admission Rules.
The next agenda item was “On Changes in the Structure of University Departments Based on the Accreditation Results”. Vice-rector Yuriy Yakymenko also reported on the issue. He stressed that the main purpose of optimizing the structure and units composition is to ensure an appropriate level of quality training. In 2019, eight structural faculties and institutes – IME (MMI), FPE (IFF), FCE (IHF), FCT (XTF), FEL (FEL), (FEA) FEA, FW (ZF), FIE (PBF) – carried out internal accreditation to optimize the structure. The total number of departments decreased by 7, and the number of curricula - by 21. The academic staff remained in full. Yuriy Ivanovych released recommendations on optimizing the structure of all faculties and institutes. The Academic Council approved the decision of the Accreditation Commission of the University on optimizing the structure and list of study programs, as well as the list of updated/ modernized study programs. The Academic Council instructed the Department of Educational Process, Department of Educational Quality and Department of Affairs to prepare an order for changes in organizational structure of departments and the list of study programs.
Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs Vitaliy Pasichnyk made a report on the results of the first stage of projects performed by Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute scientists and funded by the National Research Fundation of Ukraine (NRFU). Our scientists are working under five projects in the field “Science for the safety of man and society” and five projects in the field “Support for research of leading and young scientists”. The Academic Council approved reports on the interim results of project implementing.
Chairman of the Academic Council of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute Mykhailo Ilchenko reported on the main results of the work of the standing commissions of the Academic Council in 2020. Today there are ten such commissions. 119 people are involved in their work - more than half of the members of the Academic Council. An important area of activity of the commissions is scientific and expert consideration of draft Resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and orders of the Ministry of Education and Science concerning scientific and educational activities, certification of scientific personnel.
