On April 2nd, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute was visited by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Japan Serhii Korsunskyi.

During the visit, the newly appointed head of the Embassy of Ukraine in Japan got acquainted with the Denysenko Scientific and Technical Library, I. watched the film "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute Innovative", discussed with the university management joint actions and areas of cooperation. The Ambassador visited the Ukrainian-Japanese Center for the first time and noted its significant contribution to the development of Ukrainian-Japanese relations.

"Today I was extremely pleased to get acquainted with an aspect that I may not have focused on so far - the existence of a very powerful Japanese centre in the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. It performs a much larger function than just a university centre, it is a centre of national importance. It's really surprisingly nice - how it is organized, what programs it implements for our countries.
Opportunities for cooperation are limited only by our imagination, - Mr. Korsunskyi stressed.

During the meeting, our university management representatives discussed with Serhii Korsunskyi the prospects of cooperation with Japanese partners, in particular in the field of science and technology: nuclear energy, space technology, etc.

"Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute trains engineers in the field of nuclear power plants, nuclear technology. We would like to contribute to a safer nuclear world - a world free of nuclear weapons. And this may be of interest to our Japanese partners.

In this very field, there is another very promising topic - monitoring the consequences and environmental changes in Nagasaki, Hiroshima, Fukushima, and in the Chernobyl area. If we build the cooperation of scientists in this field - the field of big data - it is a serious scientific work, which can be a new page in scientific and technical cooperation between Ukraine and Japan.

And finally, the third direction is our space program. It can also be of interest to our Japanese partners, ”said Serhii Sydorenko, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Vice-Rector for International Relations of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Japan Serhii Korsunskyi promised to promote cooperation with the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute in all possible areas and assured that he would take an active part in joint projects.
