A regular meeting of the Academic Council of the University took place on January 20, 2020.
At the beginning of the meeting the Chairman of the Academic Council, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Mykhailo Ilchenko, congratulated the jubilee - Acting Head of the Department of Applied Physics, Doctor of Technical Science, Professor Sergei Voronov and presented him with the Honorary Award of the Academic Council of the University for many years of fruitful work, significant contribution to the development of the university, strengthening its national and international prestige and training highly qualified specialists.
After that, the professor's certificates were handed over to Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Theory, Practice and Translation of English Svitlana Fedorenko and Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Ecology and Technology of Plant Polymers Valery Barbash. The Diploma of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine was awarded for significant personal contribution to the development and popularization of physical culture and sports among student youth, active civic position, conscientious work, high professionalism and on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the NGO "Football Association of Students of Kyiv" to associate professor of Sport improvement department Andriy Hryn.
In addition, the awards of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine were presented. Serhiy Naida, Professor of the Department of Acoustics and Acoustoelectronics, received a diploma from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. Acknowledgements from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine were presented to the head of the department of scientific research, exposition and exhibition work Grigory Luparenko, the chief bibliographer of the department of information support for education and research of the Scientific and Technical Library named after G.I. Denisenko Ekaterina Moshinska, the head of the department of scientific and educational work of the State Polytechnic Museum at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute Lyubov Perelygina and vice-rector for teaching and educational work Natalia Seminska. Leonid Dmytrovych Pisarenko, Head of the Department of Electronic Devices and Devices of FEL, received the honorary award of the Academic Council of the University.
After congratulations and awards, the question of the results of the international activities of the university in 2019 and the task for 2020 was heard. Vice-rector Serhiy Sydorenko was reporting. He noted that international activities are an important factor in the development of a modern university, provided information on the organization of management of the international sphere of the university, the results of work in 2019 and cooperation with departments and subdivisions in the development of international relations in all areas, positive assessments of international activity - wins in contests and competitions, as well as stressed on current issues and tasks.
Next, the report of the Vice-Rector for Administrative Affairs Vadym Kondratyuk was considered. He presented the main results of the work of departments of economic work, property and social issues and security in 2019 and outlined the main tasks for 2020. The Vice-Rector also provided information on the total amount of funds used in 2019 for repair and restoration work at the university objects on the maintenance of the material base of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute campus in 2019, costs of utilities and health departments of the university, as well as information regarding the activities of the Centre for Physical Education and Sports.
Next, the issue of reforming the system of financing and management of higher education institutions was heard. Mykhailo Ilchenko, Chairman of the Academic Council, was reporting. He said that the conceptual principles of reforming public funding and management of higher education institutions were set out on the website of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine on December 26, 2019, and named the main indicators by which state budget funds will be distributed among universities.
Finally, contest issues and current cases were considered, including the installation of a memorial plaque to the first cosmonaut of Ukraine Leonid Kadenyuk on the territory of the university, changes in the structure of departments, the rules of admission to the university in 2020 and the establishment of educational and research laboratories, as well as the approval of educational programs and improvement in the system of elective disciplines.
