After reforming the management system of the university scientific and innovative activity is provided by the research department, the Department of Innovation and Technology Transfer, the Department of Management Informatization, the Scientific and Technical Library and the State Polytechnic Museum.
Our services actively cooperate with other departments and services of the university, commissions of the Academic Council of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, innovative structures “Sikorsky Challenge” and the Science Park “Kyiv Polytechnic.” Scientific and innovative activity is carried out by academic and scientific workers of faculties, institutes, research units, design bureaus, etc.
Science in Ukraine is financed from several national and international sources, which give the opportunity for the implementation of various forms of scientific activity – grants, projects, implementation of topics on economic agreements and contracts, to provide scientific services, apply for support from the state budget. In 2019, the dominant sources of income for our university were the implementation of applied and contractual works, scientific services, the creation of scientific and technical developments, and the implementation of international projects.
Science funding of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute consists of general and special funds. An important requirement for a research university is the prevalence of the special fund over the general. Over the past 5 years, the university fulfills this requirement, but the advantage of 5-15% cannot be satisfactory. Total receipts in the general and special funds differ significantly in different structural units. The leaders are RTF together with center for scientific research “Thesis”, FPE and HPED together with scientific training center “ECOTES”. At the same time, in half of structural divisions the ratio of the volumes of special and general funds is significantly less than what the legislation requires.
