Pro-rector of international relations of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Serhii Sydorenko and pro-rector of Ankara University Sibel Susan signed a protocol on October 8, 2019 in Ankara, according to which a group of Turkish students will begin their studies at the heat power engineer faculty of our university in February next year.
“Ankara University has accepted this master’s program in the Council of Higher Education of Turkey, today the protocol itself and its supplements have been signed. In the language of the educational process, a signed protocol means detailing the curriculum that Turkish citizens will study at our university”, said Serhii Sydorenko during a visit to Ankara. He also said that during the first half of their stay in Ukraine, students from Turkey would study in the programs that would ensure the flattening of their knowledge and skills with the knowledge and skills of Ukrainian students, who got higher education in nuclear power, and only then would begin educating under the corresponding master’s program. The number of such students will depend on the number of applicants from the Turkish side. The faculty is ready to organize education at the faculty both for individual groups of 12-15 students, and in mixed groups, together with Ukrainian student, which will be held in English.
“There are many reasons for enhancing cooperation between Turkey and Ukraine, as well as in nuclear power. This is the proximity of our borders, and traditional relations between countries, their development in all areas, as well as prospects for cooperation. Turkey is developing its nuclear power, therefore, specialists of different profiles are needed, including operators who know how to deal with nuclear power plants, know the risks, how to behave in crisis situations, trained on simulators. This is the experience that Ukraine, unfortunately, gained as a result of the Chornobyl disaster at the cost of great sacrifices”, said Serhii Sydorenko.
The signing of the protocol was preceded by meticulous three-year work. From the first agreement at the level of the presidents of our countries in March 2016, the signing of a frame agreement in September 2017 by the rectors of two universities to the preparation and approval of a master’s program in training higher education specialists in nuclear power at the Council of Higher Education of Turkey.
