On 11th of April in the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, the solemn event “Higher educational institutions - a platform for the training of highly qualified energy auditors” took place. It was carried out within the framework of the project “Support of the National Energy Efficiency Fund and the Program of Environmental Reforms (S21) in Ukraine”.
This project is being implemented within the framework of cooperation between the Governments of Ukraine and Germany to implement the agreement between the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine and the German Society for International Cooperation GIZ Gmbll.
In the preparation of energy auditors for Ukraine, 34 leading domestic institutions of higher education will take part.
“The energy efficiency market of Ukraine needs 5-7 thousand energy auditors. The successful implementation of the energy efficiency reform in Ukraine depends on their leadership position, competent and professional work. A horizon for their activities is large: from the social and residential sectors to transport, energy companies and industry. It is also a good opportunity for the University to engage a business in cooperation that today needs modern technological solutions for energy efficiency”, - said Gennady Zubko, Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Regional Development, Construction and Housing, at the opening ceremony.
The rector of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute Michael Zgurovsky and Acting Director of the Energy Efficiency Fund Yulia Holovatyuk-Ungureanu also congratulated participants of the event. Robert Cynne, Director of the GIZ project “Support to the National Energy Efficiency and Environmental Reform Program (S21) in Ukraine” presented the Energy Audit Preparation Program for work with the Energy Efficiency Fund.
The most festive part of the meeting was the presentation ceremony of Ukrainian universities, participants of the cooperation program, during which the university heads put their signatures on a large poster with a map of Ukraine and the names of their educational institutions.
Finally, there were discussions on specific aspects of energy auditors’ preparation and expectations from the universities participating in the program.
For reference. The project for the preparation of energy auditors based on higher education institutions is implemented with the support of the Government of Germany and GIZ. The cooperation program includes the development of GIZ specialists training programs for the preparation of energy auditors, conducting trainings for energy auditors and university representatives (up to 3 energy auditors from each institution of higher education, which have been established for the certification of energy auditors). In the future, energy audit tutors who completed GIZ trainings will implement similar trainings with the support of GIZ on the basis of their universities.
