The meeting of the Academic Council of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, which took place on October, 1, began somewhat unusual – with the solemn donation of the bronze bust of Alfred Nobel to the university by Mykola Znoba and Veronika Dirova.
This bust is presented to Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute not by chance, because in the spring of this year the National Committee of Ukraine for the Nobel Foundation for Sustainable Development was formed on the basis of our university. This was recalled by the first pro-rector of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Yuriy Yakymenko, who presided at a meeting of the Academic Council. “But the main thing is that we have real friends, creative people” he emphasized, noting at the same time that on the Square of Knowledge of the campus there is already a monument to Confucius, whose authors are also Mykola Znoba and Veronika Dirova.
Veronica Dirova spoke to the members of the Academic Council and expressed confidence that once after at Nobel's bust Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute will bust their own university winners of his award.
