On April, 4 the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” signed an agreement with the company "Zhejiang Golden Egg Science and Technology" (Hangzhou, People's Republic of China) to establish a joint incubation center. The Science Park "Kyiv Polytechnic" and Golden Egg Technologies Ltd. (a subsidiary of Zhejiang Golden Egg Science and Technology) also became the contracting members.
The document was signed by the rector of the university, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Mykhailo Zgurovsky, General Director of Zhejiang Golden Egg Science and Technology Lee Lumin, General Director of the Science Park "Kyiv Polytechnic" Volodymyr Hnat and Director of Golden Egg Technologies Ltd. Chan Si Tso.
The signing ceremony was preceded by the discussion of the tasks the center would be facing and the organizational features of its work in Ukraine and the People's Republic of China. A participant in the discussion from the Chinese side was the representative of the company Kuhn Yue Chan Si Tso and Bohdan Andriushchenko, from the Ukrainian side - the vice-rector of the university for scientific work, the academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Mykhailo Ilchenko, the vice-rector on international relations, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Serhiy Sydorenko, the vice rector of the perspective development Oleksiy Novikov, Director General of the Science Park "Kyiv Polytechnic" Volodymyr Hnat and others.
The University already cooperates with the company within the framework of the Memorandum of Cooperation, signed on September 14, 2017, and the conclusion of this Agreement is the next step in establishing effective relations with partners from the city of Hangzhou - one of the historic capitals of China and now - the administrative center of Zhejiang Province.
Therefore, the cooperation on the basis of the newly created center will be deployed in two main directions - educational and project. The participants of the agreement have agreed that its Ukrainian part will operate on the basis of the Science Park "Kyiv Polytechnic" and the partners of the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” will be involved in its work, and the Chinese part will work on the basis of the Chinese-Ukrainian Center of Artificial Intelligence and other partners of the company.
The Chinese partners are committed to supporting the educational activities of the Startup School "Sikorsky Challenge", which works under the Innovation Ecosystem of the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”, and the annual Sikorsky Challenge Innovation Competition. Moreover, the Zhejiang Golden Egg Science and Technology Company has been declared to be the General Sponsor of the Competition. Its representatives will take direct part in it as members of expert groups and jury and together with representatives of the university will choose potentially interesting innovative projects for further commercialization in the People's Republic of China.
The Ukrainian part of the center will provide joint search, selection, analysis, adaptation and support of innovative projects that may be subject to further incubation and commercialization, while the Chinese part will provide on the basis of the analysis and needs of the PRC markets recommendations for adapting and refinement of innovative projects and will be responsible for the organization of incubation and further commercialization of jointly chosen projects in China.
The implementation of chosen projects will be carried out after the signing of the relevant agreements. The document states that the development of students of Igor Sikorsky KPI will remain the intellectual property of the University and its partners. Priority (but not exclusive) for cooperation is determined by the following directions: creation of new materials, artificial intelligence, high-tech devices, machines and mechanisms. In this case, the advantage for priority consideration and promotion will be given to developments that are at the stage of the prototype, laboratory sample or small-scale production.
It is also planned that new joint ventures with four partners (co-founders) will be created for innovative projects, prepared and adapted for implementation in the PRC market: the project team, Kyiv Polytechnic Science Park, Zhejiang Golden Egg Science and Technology Ltd., and the Chinese investor .
