This year, for the first time in Ukraine, The all-Ukrainian Scientific Works Competition for the students of "Biomedical engineering" specialty was held in Kyiv Polytechnic this year for the first time. The final scientific-practical conference was held on April 25 in the meeting room of the Administrative Council of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.
In total 17 scientific works have been received from 21 students and 16 scientific supervisors from 9 higher educational institutions of Ukraine. Biomedical engineering is a relatively new specialty in Ukraine, but it is the future of medicine of the new millennium. Currently, medicine is getting increasingly dependent on the use of complex technical systems, computer technology and robotics. Biomedical engineering is associated with the development and operation of technical equipment, the use of computer technology, image processing, and various diagnostic and therapeutic devices. That’s why the works presented on the competition were dedicated to various subjects.
Students represented renowned educational institutions: National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” (3 works), Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics (3 works), Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University (3 works), Odessa National Polytechnic University (2 works), Kharkiv Petro Vasylenko National Technical University of Agriculture (2 papers), Sumy State University (1 work), Priazovskiy State Technical University (1 work), National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute" (1 work), Zhukovskiy State Aerospace University “Kharkiv Aviation Institute” (1 work). The majority of the mentioned universities have the departments of biomedical engineering.
All contestants received certificates of participation. Three works received the "Best Work" nomination. Due to the requirements of the competition, only 4 works were awarded with winner’s certificates. However, there were many more worthy works. The best was the work of the second year master's degree student Oksana Makeyenko (supervisor - V.E.Orel, FBMI, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, National Cancer Institute). The author was awarded the first place diploma. The second place diploma was given to the master’s degree student Ilya Romanenko with the scientific work called "Information technology for prediction of the development of liver pathology in patients with cystic fibrosis" (scientific supervisor – A.I. Pechersk, KNURE). The third place diplomas were awarded to the first year master’s degree student Bohdan Kolomiets with scientific work called "The system of registration and analysis of human stabilizers" (scientific adviser – A.O. Popov, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute) and Vladislava Topchiy with scientific work called "Analysis method the musculoskeletal system condition" (scientific supervisor - T.V. Zhemchuzhkina, KNURE). Special thanks were also given to the scientific supervisors of the winners. We congratulate the winners and wish them success in the scientific field.
